The Lyrics

Sometimes things just don't go as planned. As this guy can attest:
It's finally time for vacation, I've waited all week
So today I've packed all my stuff in my jeep
Now I wait for the cars to stop blocking my drive
Cause if they don't
I might explode
It isn't rush hour and
I'm sure that the lights have turned green

Buddy
I'm annoyed because my trip on the road is delayed
Ooh
The more I wait for you
More anger I feel, yeah
It shouldn't be that hard for you
To just bloody move out the way

I am so glad when all the cars move
Now I'm on my way
What the hey?
I'm drivin' and to my dismay, buddy
There seems to be a large obstruction blocking up the lanes
Don't know what the hell the thing is, buddy
But what I know
Is now I'm slowed
And talking to myself, there's no "buddy" here to be seen

Buddy
I'm annoyed because my trip on the road is delayed
Ooh
Construction workers, move
That blockage with speed, yeah
It shouldn't be that hard for you
To move that dead bull out the way

So my trip on the road's been delayed
By a bull on the road that's decayed
So my trip on the road's been delayed
(How did that dead bull get in the way)
Move that bull on the road
...that bloody dead bull out the way

This is such a jam, I can tell you
So much in the way
I remain
Infuriatingly delayed
Don't know what's keeping the construction guys from cleaning up, yeah
And my GPS is buggered, buddy
So I can't go
To other roads
To simply go around this blockade, now the light's turning green

Hooray
So now it seems that my trip on the road's on the way
Ooh
That dead bull is now moved
A path is revealed, yeah
Now all the cars can now move
My trip to Muldoon's on the way

Yes, finally my bloody trip on the road's on the way
Ooh
The pedal's down, I zoom
The wind, I can feel, yeah
But now my car slows to a cruise
I've run out of juice, not again
I've no spare gas, can't refuel
Can nothing go smooth here today?
Didn't transcribe the "ba da da"'s because, well, fuck that. Muldoon's a place in Texas, apparently. That's why I had to go against what I've been taught and called petrol "gas" You Americans and your crazy terminology.

Couldn't you just go around the dead bull? I mean bulls aren't really all that big. Still it's better than a dead skunk in the middle of the road that's stinking to high heaven!

(AofA) Surprisingly, for some reason I had quite a bit of trouble following the pacing in the verses. I don't know why. I just couldn't get the flow right. And I had a lot of trouble with emphasis, which is weird because I thought the choruses were paced perfectly. Funny, but the pacing threw it off a bit for me. Sorry

Never been a huge fan of the OS, but this was a very funny spoof! I love the ending

(Ages) Seems that you and I are on the same page with vacations that go awry. This would be a great match for my "I Missed My Flight" parody. Yeah, as for that trip on the road you described, it reminds me of the road trips we encounter every time we drive to Florida. Always, traffic, construction, detours, weather, low gas, etc. It's not fair....and just when you thought you're road trip ran smooth, your car runs out of gas, which sucks. Great work and you captured the frustration of this situation, making it nostalgic. 5's.

Found this because of the 'comment' (???!!!) previous. Good job Conq! Love the "To just bloody move out the way" line, always love a parody that makes me feel like I'm in my own backyard! Enjoyed your footnotes too.
