The Lyrics

For Mike Armstrong, and he knows why!
I shout into the megaphone
Cowboys too rough a win to get.
They've got the field advantage of home
but I'm dealing with a quarterback who gives me regrets.
I love to hear you call me Coach
especially when you say "Sir!"
I got some winning right now on my mind.
But those hits on your blind side, your career it just wrecks.
Why you think you can play, I am perplexed!

When you say, "I'm ready!" I say, "He's better!"
He's better! You better headset!
When you say, "I'm lucky!" I say, "He's better!"
He's better! You better headset!
You better headset now!
Get that clipboard and get my chow!

You've got a feeble mind judging by what you've thrown.
I'm not into autograph pictures, that's the way it goes.
You welcome me with mighty arms but injured legs.
I know coaches have their needs, but this one never begs.
I don't really mind how far you're throwing.
Short passes were really all right
when your former backup helped us win Monday night.

When you say, "I'm ready!" I say, "He's better!"
He's better! You better headset!
When you say, "I'm lucky!" I say, "He's better!"
He's better! You better headset!
You better headset now!
Get that clipboard and get my chow!

You lay on the field last game
six fumbles, a new league record.
You dog in practice again
not chewing up all that yardage
saying, "I'm better!"
You better headset now!

You better sit down, all the time now!
You better write down, that rookie's line now!
You better sit down, all the time now!
You better write down, that rookie's line now!

We're playing on Monday night, the whole country's gonna see it.
And knowing you're so eager to play makes sitting you down so much easier.
I know that you've been wearing muddy clothes and you play pretty crappy each time.
And that rookie plays so good and he still slings a spiral line everytime.

And when it comes to big game winning
I know what he's giving!
We're now kicking off from the tee
Bye, bay-bee!

When you say, "I'm ready!" I say, "He's better!"
He's better! You better headset!
When you say, "I'm lucky!" I say, "He's better!"
He's better! You better headset!
You better headset now!
Get that clipboard and get my chow!

I give this such an unusual rating of 445 only for the flubbed rhymes and paces. But Excellent usage of the rhymes and pacings that DO work, and funny lines riffing on the original, like "You dog in practice again/not chewing up all that yardage".

I loved this.

I tried to mock this song and failed. Very good job.(Mine was gonna be "You Better Go Butter Your Butt, so it's probably just as well)

Rick, the title is worth fives! Why not try it? What have you got to lose except your dignity?
