Song Parodies -> "Talk In Valyrian"

Original Song Title:

"Walk Like an Egyptian"

Original Performer:

The Bangles

Parody Song Title:

"Talk In Valyrian"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

All of the old Targaryens
They rode dragons, which is pretty cool
If they say "Dracarys"[1]
They'll light you up like a barbecue

All the bazaar men with their slaves
In Slaver's bay in Astopor
Since the Unsullied,
Killed 'em all, now they speak no more

Red priests raising the deceased say
"Daor, daor"[3]
Talk in Valyrian.

Lovely ex-slave Missandei
That's how she speaks to her Khaleesi
Says it's the perfect tongue
The only language for poetry

All the Free City Braavos braves
Like Syrio or the Faceless Man
"Valar Morghulis"[4]
They're talking in High Valyrian

All the Essos SOBs say
"Daor, daor"
Talk in Valyrian.

"Skorī dēmalȳti tymptir tymis,
ērinis iā morghūlis."
When you play the Game of Thrones
You win or you die.. the meaning is

Daenerys to her zaldrizes[6] say
"Daor, daor"
Talk in Valyrian
Talk in Valyrian.

[1] - dracarys: Dragonfire
[2] - kirimvos: Thank you
[3] - Daor: No
[4] - Valar morghulis: All men must die
[5] - Valar dahaeris: All men must serve
[6] - zaldrizes: Dragons

Glad you provided the interpretations...I think I need to start watching TV again.

as with Leough I don't think I watch enough modern tv shows to fully understand some of these parodies I mostly just watch the older stuff... 5's

:-) I watch very little television, too, but have made an exception for Game of Thrones: the books are superb, and unlike anything else I've read (and my book collection has thousands of SciFi books) & the TV series is possibly the best fiction I've ever seen. Obviously, it helps to have a penchant for this sort of thing to start with, but the scale of the production is jaw-dropping.. and that includes creating working languages (not quite the same thing as typing at random), one of which is Valyrian.

Really well done, Phil... and the pace wasn't dragon -- even with my heavy Klingon accent! I was hoping, though, for a bit more gratuitous nudity...
(PS: My sec code was 2/3rds of HBO)

I saw a couple of shows awhile ago and probably picked up a few things, but was not understanding a lot, like your parody here. It does follow the OS and you do keep to the aura of the show in the write. The interpretations did help.
