Song Parodies -> The Nostalgic Song
| Original Song Title: | "The Logical Song" |
| Original Performer: | Supertramp |
| Parody Song Title: | "The Nostalgic Song" |
| Parody Written by: | Phil Alexander |
This, of course, is a parody to the original Supertramp version of The Logical Song, not the half-baked sampled replica in the charts at the moment....
When I was young, it seemed that music was wonderful,
Original, oh it was beautiful, lyrical
And all the bands on TV, well they'd be singing harmoniously
Melodic'ly, tunefully pleasing me.
But now when I watch TV, it all seems so predictable
Atonal, repeatable, despicable
And they showed me a band who were singing so tunelessly
Fruitlessly, listlessly uselessly
There are times I hear these bands again
They all sound just the same
I'm just a simple chap
Oh, no please, don't tell me what they've earned
I know they sound absurd
But most they sound like c**p
Music today - an exercise in futility
Stupidity, redundancy, no ability
And the bands are all clones, not one is individual
Ineffectual, respectable, presentable, they're vegtables!
At night, I hear these bands again
They still sound just the same
It's more than just a bit
Oh, no please, don't tell me what they've earned
I know they sound absurd
But most they sound like s**t
Original, oh it was beautiful, lyrical
And all the bands on TV, well they'd be singing harmoniously
Melodic'ly, tunefully pleasing me.
But now when I watch TV, it all seems so predictable
Atonal, repeatable, despicable
And they showed me a band who were singing so tunelessly
Fruitlessly, listlessly uselessly
There are times I hear these bands again

Oh, no please, don't tell me what they've earned
I know they sound absurd
But most they sound like c**p
Music today - an exercise in futility
Stupidity, redundancy, no ability
And the bands are all clones, not one is individual
Ineffectual, respectable, presentable, they're vegtables!

I think this one may be my favorite of your songs, its great, and true
Phil speaks the truth. Bring back 'music'.
We were just looking up who'd done Supertramp Parodies and here we ran into this one, what a hoot. Fantastically brilliant.......And of course 5's all over
Preachin' to the choir. (Singing rap, of course)
Thanks, all- one of a couple I've written inspired by an abysmal reworking of an old and well-loved song. I have a rule for cover versions: if it uses a drum machine, it should never see light of day.
(Roars with laughter) 555! whoever voted anything less than 5 all the way don't know humor!
