The Lyrics

Hello Elwood, my old friend,
You've picked me up from jail again,
But our old orphanage is in distress
Owes five big ones to the IRS
And the mission that was planted in our hands
Reform the band
Prevent the sound of sirens

In redneck bars their music made
They didn't like the blues they played
'Neath the flying food they did decide
To play the theme tune from Rawhide
When the "Good Ol' Boys" found out their gig they'd missed
Boy, were they pissed
We heard the sound of sirens

And as the film progressed I saw
Ten thousand cop cars, maybe more.
As the Blues Bros. they were tailing
Along the road with sirens wailing
(and the Good Ol' Boys were following behind
Out of their minds)
Trailing the sound of sirens

Carrie Fisher made them stand
Grenade launcher in her hand
She disbelieved and thought it mighty odd
Jake said he's on a mission from God
They escaped to get to their Palace Hotel gig
Boy it was big
Drowned out the sound, of sirens

And the people screamed and cheered
As Jake and Elwood, they appeared
And they played the blues, the gig closes
They get out under the cops' noses
It took a miracle, but finally the Brothers got the money to the IRS
Under duress
Followed by the sound of sirens

Well, obviously I like it: after all I wrote the thing - but I just wanted to be the first to add a comment to one of my own parodies :-) Phil

I hardly know what it's talking about, being unfamilier with the Blues Brothers, but the pacing is right smooth. Cleverness.

I found this looking for something else... glad I did :-) Love the Blues Brothers, love the song :-)

Perhaps it could end up in Blues Brothers 3? ;-)

Between Phil's parodies and a Philly Cheese steak sandwich, I'll take the latter.
