The Lyrics

midi...http://rock.mididb.com/20030518/Moody_Blues/?Title=The%20Moody%20Blues
You persevere
And you're beat all right
And you're striving meets
The real world.
Been heard down here
All your feats all right
Is the purist music
I've heard.
So take your cares
To the cliffs that are there,
And bid them all adieu
Sent on their way
'Pon the breakers today
To your chagrin they're new once more
They all begin anew.

Maybe, maybe, maybe
Should investigate
The other side of strife tonight.
Saw divers kind of writers
And the necks they break
They're on the other side of life tonight.
Lose what we may,
"Go completely astray"
For this junk is in vain.
I know the only way to get there
Is to be born prep
And on the other side of tracks tonight.

- instrumental-

You persevere
And you're beat all right
And you're striving meets
The real world.
Been heard down here
All your feats all right
Is the purist music
I've heard.
So take your cares
To the cliffs that are there,
And bid them all adieu
Sent on their way
'Pon the breakers today
To your chagrin they're new once more
They all begin anew.

Maybe, maybe, maybe
I should abdicate
My only guide to life tonight.
The givers and the takers
and the masks they make
Are on another ride to strife tonight,
I've lost my way
Gone discreetly astray
Might find myself insane.
Was told the only way to get there
I did take that step
Took the good side out of strife in fright.

-instrumental-

....I've lost my way
Gone discreetly astray
Might find myself insane.
Was told the only way to get there
I did take that step
Took the good side out of strife in fright.

Adagio, this really is superb. I had to read it a number of times and each time I drew out something a little bit "more" and a little bit different.

Paul, that makes me very happy that you take the time to go over the lyrics again. Thanks!!

A lot of your stuff isn't so much ha-ha funny as it is insightful and poetic, like this one. I know that doen't lend itself to winning the contests, but it is a cool writing skill. I said this to Johnny once, but have you written originals? I might be interested in seeing some of those.

Thanks Rick, that's a real compliment coming from you! I really didn't start writing parodies until a year ago (yeah, I was wiped out in the debacle) and I'm just starting to see some possibilities in these poetic ones. 'Course I do throw in a 'funny' once in a while too. :D

(ABC) See above!

(ABC) It's times like these you warp the 'How Funny' criteria into originality and writing skill, which just simmers gracefully from this one. 5s.

Thanks Rick and Johnny

Luke...thank you...a lot...:) !!

Didn't look at this one first time around as I DKTOS, but I'd like to echo what Rick said (in his first comment, not the "restoring votes" one, of course). This one's beautiful.

Thank you, Phil!! :)

I liked this parody because I could relate. Sometimes I drive myself crazy just by thinking. Sometimes I think I think too much. Anyway, I gave you some fives.
Adagio - August 17, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, Invincible. Write out your thoughts sometime...and decide later if and where you want to put them...helps me if I think too much.

Didn't think I knew the original but that cool midi brought it back in all its glory; very easy to follow, too. Well done.

I didn't KTOS either, but found it, and really like it. Like the parody too!

(ABC) Cool parody! Even tho' that silly part of me kept picturing someone throwing something off the Tallahachee Bridge... ;-D

Adagio - August 21, 2004 - Report this comment

This one has a different meaning to me these days. Been there, done that...but don't have a t-shirt. NOT missing a ring that's gone for good soon, though.
