Song Parodies -> Buy My Blackbird!
| Original Song Title: | "Bye Bye Blackbird" |
| Original Performer: | Shirley Bassey |
| Parody Song Title: | "Buy My Blackbird!" |
| Parody Written by: | Stuart McArthur |
This is my entry into the Decathlon 2 "Swing / Make A Commercial" category....I chose the Shirley Bassey version to parody because her phrasing is simpler
Stu:
[ pointing to his prized blackbird on the sales stand ]
"That blackbird's magnifico!
Don't be slow
It will go
Buy my blackbird!
Such a clean hygienic bird
pleasant turds
(take my word)
Buy my blackbird!
From that famous pie this bird was plucked...
the
other three and twenty weren't so luck...
-y
They got baked
None survived
Mine escaped
Then he cried
"Blackbirds...bye bye"
[ Stu entertains the gathering customers with some interpretative dance,
then ramps up the sales pitch ]
If you want a tasty treat
n'you can eat
pan-grilled beak
Try my blackbird
After blackbird, honestly
you won't eat
KFC
Try fried blackbird
It goes down quite nicely with a chutney
It was in that song by Paul McCutney
if you like
winged fauna
you should bite
into a
blackbird...................
buy MINE!"

This was too funny Stuart!!! When I first heard the title, I was thinking that this wouldn't be up to your usual standards, but this was, and how. Are you selling them on the Home Shopping Network, because my Security Code is "TV3"
:-D
Loved the "Chutney/McCutney" rhyme
Don't know if it'll be there later, but at the moment next to this textbox is a "Best of John Barry" ad (www.amazon.com/dp/B000025OLO/ref=nosim?tag=chuckygs80swebpa&link_code=as3&creativeASIN=B000025OLO&creative=373489&camp=211189) - they got the wrong author...

wonderfully weird
This is not half-baked parody (23/24ths baked, perhaps). A fine funny effort you've launched here, Stu! (I esp. liked the pan-grilled beak image)
My first thought was the small PC thing, but I guess that's a Blackberry, ain't it?....I think you and I are about the only two who have done this old standard...funny and great job, here
Welcome to the chutney club, Stu.
I didn't even realize you were in D2, wow, I better get my construction hat on, this is going to be a tough round--I will leave a more in depth comment during the contest.
I'll buy it for $555.
But KFC/Taco Bell have such yummy rats... Buy minah instead. 555
Thanks Matty - you're right though - I did struggle for a comic angle for a long time
thanks Phil - the John Barry ads might be prompted by the appearance of "John Barry" as a commenter though
thanks alvin...........thanks TJC and LOL at the "23/24ths baked"
thanks AFW, but Phil has also done this OS - last week in fact
thanks JAB - where have you guys been hiding all my life??
thanks for the read BADave - yep it's gloves off
thanks MrMac
and thanks TT - their rabbit-nostrils and their turkey-lips aren't too bad either

That was awesome! 5s
(Decathlon 2.0) All must buy Stu's blackbird! No idea WHY, but the ad was so brilliant, so what more reason do you need?!
(decathlon) I will take your blackbird over Phil's black pud! The question remains, though--which one will outrank on the Decathlon???
(DEC 2.1) Paul McCutney? Hehehehehe...you're a very strange man, McArthur: which is the highest Kristof compliment available! Super stuff. 555
Chutney/McCutney...LOL...there's something wrong with you...and I LOVE it! 555
Decathlon...Nice work, Stu...though I really think you might have lost me were it not for the interpretive dance. ; )
(Decathlon2) "After blackbird, honestly you won't eat KFC Try fried blackbird" . . .one question. . ..5L3? I think I'm confused, what does that stand for. Agri, you pose a good question. . .but back to KFC, I guess the sale wasn't going well to turn to that. . .very funny.
( dec) See Above!
I like the way you turned things around and flipped the bird here...well done!
thanks 5L3 (and pass that on to Arwen willya?)
oh, and thanks to everyone else too - it's just that I've always had a soft spot for 5L3

That's what I get for trying to read parodies, comment, vote in contests AND try to actually get some work done during the day all at the same time. I really can't believe I did that. Now EVERYONE knows what my security code is. I'm so humiliated.
I know how you must feel, Arwen. Even when George Michael got caught doing scandalous things in that public toilet, he still managed to not give away his security code
DEC 2.1- I used to work at KFC and I seriously think that blackbirds was one of the 11 herbs and spices. Ewww. Very funny and well done, Stu.
