(instrumental intro)

Everyone considers Shrub the Dullard of the Country.
New York got hit - Bush ran and hid for four days - took too long.
His mama named him George, but folks just call him Dubya.
The things he does tells me he won't last too long.

Just about eight years ago, Bush Daddy lost re-election.
Went to war with Saddam, but still lost, while Clinton won.
Poppy Bush was sore he'd lost, so he turned and said to Dubya:
"Son, my term is over, but one day soon, you'll run."

(Chorus:)
"Promise me, son, you'll some day restore my throne.
Don't get into trouble, if you can.
I know you'll look weak, when you're trying just to speak.
I hope you're smart enough to understand.
Son, you'll have to cheat to be The Man."

Shrub got help from everyone; his money bought him lackeys.
Though he failed in business, he was called an "oil man."
Needs naps, while hardly working; his gaffes are just appalling.
Was propped up by his handlers, 'cause he needed them.

Gov'nor Shrub disdained the poor, and not for lack of trying.
The big mess he made left Texas... last in all this land.
Was asked to take his daddy's place, for to make the rich all richer.
He used smears and ran a dirty race; he heard Dad's words again:

"Promise me, son, you'll some day restore my throne.
Don't get into trouble, if you can.
I know you'll look weak, when you're trying just to speak.
I hope you're smart enough to understand.
Son, you'll have to cheat to be The Man."

The Beltway boys just laughed at him and said, "Debates are your doom."
But the press all spun and lied, and said he'd bested Gore.
For Dubya lacks brains in his head; he's not known for achieving.
As Dubya watched his polls drop, his cronies went and fixed the score.

Result was so appalling, Supreme Court just installed him.
Five of the judges party hacks; they lied and made the call.
Made Dubya their puppet; all his life, he had soft landings.
He said, "Thank god for Cheney - let him watch my back and all."
And to Dad, he'll say:

"As I promised, Dad, I have now restored your throne.
I'll stay out of trouble, if I can.
Though Dick's heart is weak, he still tells me how to speak.
Although I'm president of all the land...
Let others pull my strings - that's the plan."
