| Original Song Title: | "Wishing You Were Here" |
| Original Performer: | Chicago |
| Parody Song Title: | "Fishing from the Pier" |
| Parody Written by: | John A. Barry |
Deep is scoured and bream don't bite and sharkless days:
Foo-oo-oo-ood-fishing from the pier.
No Coho and no Ono--I'm in a daze,
Screw-ew-ew-ewed, fishing from the pier.
Where'd they go? There aren't any down there in the deep brine--
Foo-oo-oo-ood isn't off this pier.
All the fish swam far away--guess I won't dine
O-o-o-on fish caught near the pier.
And I'd like to catch Alewife, 'cause they taste so good!
But I just can't get a bite. . .hake-less neighborhood.
And there ain't no Cod to view in the ocean's swells,
So I guess from scows I'll fish.
Doo-oo-oo-oomed, fishing from the pier,
Doo-oo-oo-oomed, fishing from the pier.
Ain't been roe'd 'cause the sturgeon goed--fins waved "bye-bye."
Foo-oo-oo-ood isn't off this pier.
This ain't nice. . .plunge hand in the ice. . .throat's kinda dry.
Brew-ew-ew-ew! Fishing for a beer.
Foo-oo-oo-ood-fishing from the pier.
No Coho and no Ono--I'm in a daze,
Screw-ew-ew-ewed, fishing from the pier.
Where'd they go? There aren't any down there in the deep brine--

Allow me to fish 5 rainbow trout, 5 salmon, and 5 catfish out of the lake for you! I also enjoyed your other Chicago parody when you wrote about pies. Keep it up, John Barry!
