If you don´t know what an "Ensign Redshirt" is, then congratulations, you´re obviously not as much of a nerd as I am. It´s a popular term for the kind of Star Trek actor who gets introduced in the first scene only to be killed off in the second, making it look like the main characters are in grave danger. This plot development twist was so commonly used in the original series that all minor actors wearing red begun to be refered to as "Ensign Redshirt". So maybe if The Who had been Trekkers this is what "My Generation" would have sounded like:
Redshirts are to be shot down

Just because they´re beaming down

Their bodies do look awful c-c-cold
