The Lyrics

While checking my facts, I came across this: The story of Schroedinger's cat (an epic poem) - a far better description in verse than this parody, and well worth a read for anyone who's not sure what ol' Schroedinger was on about.
Box with a cat in
Is it alive or dead?
Maybe it's neither
Or perhaps both, instead

One little atom
Which may soon decay
When it does, Kitty
Will be blown away

So have a view
I'll have a view
I'll know with a view

Is Kitty still living
Does it breathe no more?
Quantum mechanics
Says you can't be sure

If you look inside
You can tell the cat's state
But the action of looking
Determines its fate

So have a view
I'll have a view
I'll know with a view

Box with a cat in
Isn't the purrfect test
'Cause cats are quite cute, it
Would make me depressed

When I get back my homework
Teacher gives me in class
If I don't look, then
Might I both fail and pass?

I'll take no view
No I won't view
Oh... peek a small view

So have a view
I'll have a view
I'll know with a view

i have a cat that is indeed fond of assuming the "maybe-dead-in-a-box" position...5s

Thanks for the link, wouldn't have understood it otherwise. Quite the conundrum. "Ten to one the cat ain't alive, it really don't matter, I'm giving you fives."

hmm, VERY deep, Phil, and definitely in the vein of the OS - 555

No uncertainty here...this is good!

Good one, Phil.

Take a random sample of subjects at this site, and you might come up with turds or with quantum mechanics... pretty much proves the uncertainty principle... Mind boggling. My dice came up 555 on this attempt.

I have read this paradox before, and though the full explanation is a bit over my head I still enjoy it. There is no uncertainty here; grrreat parody.

Heavy stuff. Fives
Phil Alexander - March 18, 2006 - Report this comment
Technically, Red Ant, it's not exactly a paradox: what Schroedinger was trying to say is that the cat actually exists in *both* "alive and dead" states, and it's the act of observation which causes the cat to be either one or the other. At a quantum mechanics level, this sort of concept describes observed behaviour (even if it doesn't make a huge amout of sense for something the size of a cat)

After that I myself had reported my initial gibberish comment as inappropriate there was a period when it was still there and yet already gone. The suspense almost killed me!

BTW: Thanx for the inspiration, I got my own parody about this poor kitty coming up soon now.
