Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Hey, if the Vice President does it, that means it's not illegal, right? Right? Far right!
(guitar intro)

Well, he got his daddy's gun
and he's going hunting way down in Texas.
And he's impressing all his buddies
with his hunting gear in trunk of his Lexus.
And then he don't know what he's doing
and he shoots a guy in his solar plexus.
And he's got gun, gun, gun
and his daddy should just take it away!
(Gun, gun, gun, and his daddy should just take it away!)

Well, the kid's kinda nutty
and you might say that he's quite a bit zany!
(He's quite a bit zany, zany quite a bit!)
But he says, "It's OK, daddy
'cause it was all right when done by Dick Cheney!"
(When done by Dick Cheney, when done by Ol' Dick!)
And then he took his gun and fired
and his pal got buckshot stuck in his hiney!
(Buckshot in his hiney, that's where he was shot!)
And he's got gun, gun, gun
and his daddy should just take it away!
(Gun, gun, gun, and his daddy should just take it away!)

(organ break)

Well, you knew all along
that you ain't no Eastwood as Dirty Harry!
(You ain't Dirty Harry, you sure ain't no Clint!)
And now he took your gun away
'cause when armed with it you're really quite scary!
(You're really quite scary, with shotgun or flint!)
And don't you come along with me
I don't wanna be the next one to bury!
(The next one to bury, please, please take the hint!)
Dad took your gun, gun, gun
thank you, daddy, 'cause you took it away!
(Gun, gun, gun, and his daddy went and took it away!)

Yeah, no more gun, gun, gun
thank you, daddy, 'cause you took it away!
(Gun, gun, gun, and his daddy went and took it away!)

Oo-woo!
Oo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo!
(Gun, gun, gun, and his daddy went and took it away!)
Oo-woo!
Oo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo!
(Gun, gun, gun, and his daddy went and took it away!)
Oo-woo!
Oo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo!
(Gun, gun, gun, and his daddy went and took it away!)
(repeat 'til fade)

Hey, don't mock our VP, he simply didn't realize it wasn't human season. Can't faulty him for that. Who IS his father anyway? He does resemble Eva Braun...hmmmm. Anyway good one as usual Mike.

Excellent structure in this parody, Michael. Oh yeah --- it's topical, too. ;-)

Michael, what in the world will great minds talk about about when this goes away----world problems?
Phil Alexander - February 16, 2006 - Report this comment
I know what you mean, Royce... but it *is* rather funny, you have to admit. Has anybody kept a count of the number of Cheney-hunting songs so far?

PS Loved this one, Michael. Especially the Texas/Lexus/plexus trio: well worked out.

It's on the news here too (and we got Jay Leno with some delay so I expect to hear more about it soon) but it will go away eventually, maybe soon if there's a dope scandal in the winter olympics or something like that.

Nice job Michael. It's amazing what this administration will do to get the unjust war, illegal wiretapping, Iraqi prisoner abuse, botched Katrina rescue, inability to locate Bin Laden (do I need to go on?) off of the front pages. I'm still wondering if Cheney's face replaces Hamilton on the $10 bill if ol' Harry kicks the bucket. It's now clear that his dodging the draft six times actually saved American lives.

Fives, fives, fives. It's true, there has been a surfeit of trigger-happy-Dick parodies, but it's like, well, shooting fish in a barrel, or shooting tame quail on a ranch where you just drive up and blast 'em.

555, there have been alot of parodies about this situation, it's good that your's goes to a different song instead of "Janie's got a gun".

good one. I would have commented sooner, but I just finished my own bit of cheney bashing at one of the alternate media sites. As far as I'm concerned cheney left himself wide open for this, or should I just say it's cheney season?

Thank you, everyone. Adam: Let's see, Cheney was born in '41, so what you're suggesting is certainly possible, but he doesn't resemble Der Fuhrer as much as Hermann Goering. Royce: As Jesse Jackson would say, "The question is moot!" This will NEVER go away! After all, over 200 years later, we were still talking about Aaron Burr killing Alexander Hamilton BEFORE this happened. Which segues nicely to Robert: No, the current GOP plan is to replace both Hamilton on the ten and FDR on the dime with Saint Ronald of Bel Air. It will never happen, because the GOP loves Hamilton, being the father of American capitalism (not to mention the father of the national debt), while FDR is up there with Washington and Lincoln in the "Great Presidents" category, and no modern Republican can touch him, not even Ronnie. Phil: I must confess, I took the Texas/solar plexus rhyme from a Danny Kaye bit, when he sang a song about a certain baseball team. K1: Every day Bush remains in office, we have a dope scandal in America, and I ain't talking about drugs... last I checked, anyway. Stephen: Sure, that was the obvious one, but subtlety can be fun, too.

So many parodies about this, so little time. 5's
Phil Alexander - February 17, 2006 - Report this comment
yes, Michael, but I bet Danny Kaye never rhymed it with "Lexus" ;-)
