The Lyrics

The many serendipitous rewards of multi-smooshing to a theme: While looking for a suitable "Wednesday" tune, discovered this hitherto-unknown (to this writer) beautiful, sad, and poignant song from the duo's debut album -- no doubt overshadowed by said album's most famous track, "The Sounds of Silence".

Song being reworked: "Tuesday Afternoon".

It's the afternoon: Tuesday; just beginning to see
I am finding my way, now; I'm seeing the light
Learning what really matters: sun-light is mellow
Away the clouds go; them, I chase ... out of sight

Like the softest alarm, I can hear something call me
Is it autumn's first leaves drawing me as they fall?
They change co-lor; so pretty, then gone; I am hearing:
Gently sighing, a voice that's explain- -ing it all

I look at myself'; my mind, reflected
Leave myself far behind; that kind of day
In fairyland love tales. so gently, I'm swaying
To see beauty, co-ome; I'll show ... you the way

Still calling to me - is afternoon, Tuesday
I'm still hearing voices; attention, must pay
At the clouds, I still gaze, and still hear gentle sighing
This afternoon's beauty has blown .. me .. away

This is art! (well, and some Paul, too!) A wonderful ode to chlorophyll, carotenoids and anthrocyanins---funny, I never pegged you as the fall guy...

Evocative and slightly melancholy, like the season. I'll have to dig out my old S&G LP.

No crime committed here... 555!

Mark Scotti: Both groups tended that way, didn't they? .. thanks for v/c!

TJC: LOL all the way through, esp. opener... actually, I prefer summer, but summer better than others (awaits well-deserved gunshot wound) .. I'd gladly bounce the Springs with Donna Summer .... thanks for v/c!

John Barry Another good one! Thanks.

Patrick: I take no credit; it's MB's lyric, but thanks .. Where the turtles live, we're happy to have made it through another hurricane season without a hit, but I'm with you on the shorter days/holiday blues thing. Thanks for expressive c/v.

Paul Tresomme: (ROFL!) Gee, thanks -- never had a tresomme, but always wanted to try one. And loved the multiple levels; Aside from the piddly robbery and TT's usual kinky spin, Quite the Summer! (see reply to TJC). ... Thanks for v/c, and now can we go back to a language I know? (Sp and Ger.) Never cared for French or for the French (only for some French kisses, here, there, and everywhere, if you get my drift, which I'm sure you don't want to. ;)
