It ripped a plightly tangle
Turned ‘partments into boards
It was real unkind: Katrina
Now clouds build up for more
Gustav is coming harder
All loose-nailing’d flew away
Now high-tailed out ‘fore this weather’s brink
Hurr’caner brought a fray

And wish it would abater
As this killer boldly wails
Hate to face submerse-ed coastly:
Yearn a quieter grade of gale

It’s sad there is no season
Not embued with rain banshee
And I wondered though while praying hard
How those levees be
Soon a pristine crested ocean
May be cleaving to our coast
And while I surmise we’re copin’
I do trust an’ hope it slows

And so as winds buffet ‘er
Ask that clearer climes prevail
For the sake of all that’s coastly
Yearn for quieter grade of gale
