Original Song Title:

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Squirl You Be One Syllable (Pt. 1 Mer's complaint)"

Parody Written by:

Merry & Pippin

The Lyrics

Arising from a typical debate between M&P regarding how many syllables a given word contains (these are the sort of earth-shattering things that plague a writing duo) - we bring you the case for 'Squirrel' equals a single syllable (hence the Part '1'). Please read the parody for the diametrically opposed case which was also released today. If you do not know the OS, a low bit-rate MP3 can be found here

Squirl, you be one syllable

Suffrin' so much a bounty of woes
These dialect snarls cause parody rows and
Speech undefined
It's always the battle of writin' it down
Pip's en-deavor now to make it compound
It's voc'lly unkind
You bet my diction's refined
Don't you know:

Squirl, you be one syllable
Breeze: neat on the tongue
Squirl, you be one syllable
When fleetly it's sung

Been pronouncin' this word for all of my life
But that just sayin' 'squirl' is causin' some strife
(Ohiohood):
Well a cray-on's a cran and a pru-in's no prune
But this syllable dance our tunes it could 'rune'
Sure it could
Pippin, you've misunderstood
'Bout how to say...

'Squirl'... 'cus it's one syllable !
Ease, when spoken and
'Squirl' will be a verbal boon
In parody plan

Oh squirl, you be one syllable
Geeeze - must make this stand
Squirl, you be one syllable
Loon-y to demand:
Its...need to 'expand' !

Ah, squirrel! One of my favorite dishes. Interesting word for a parody author - I generally go one syllable, though it can be two. IOW, 1.5 syllables! (like "fire" can be) 5s for the parody.

Good parody, Meriadoc. Though, somehow, not quite as good as the co-incidentally similar one out today, I feel ;-p :)

Excellent parody, although here in Texas we know it's pronounced "squarl".

I know what you're thinking: Did he fire two syllables, or only one? And since this is a .555 Magnum, the world's most powerful parody debate, you just have to ask yourself: "Do I feel lucky today"? Well? Do ya, Pun-K? ;) [1]

And what about "squirrely"? Two syl, or three?

For the answer, see the flip side. The .555 indeed was for excellent parody technique during this "crucial" debate.

[1] Private joke, sorry.

Oh okay - I did catch that joke. Even us cave-dwellers know the commonest movie cliches... :)
