| Parody Written by: | Steve Kalafut |
I can't believe this one isn't here already. For those of you unfamiliar with her, Beverly Sills is an operatic soprano. Among her many performances is a TV special done with a famous commedienne. The "Met" is the NY Metropolitan Opera.
The voice I have isn't all that great
My beat-up guitar is a piece of crap
My music sense is a little whack
And my friends all think I'm better at rap
I didn't go to Julliard School
Because they won't consider me
Why should they? I ain't nobody
No talent, but I listen
Beverly Sills
That's how I want to sing
Lis'nin' to Beverly Sills
Beverly Sills
Wearing lots of diamonds and bling
Lis'nin' to Beverly Sills
Look at all those diva stars
They're all so beautiful and clean
When the Met opens its doors
They sit the people in between
I wanna live a life like that
I wanna eat and sing duets
Final singer must be fat
I'll sing with Carol Burnett
Beverly Sills
That's how I want to sing
Lis'nin' to Beverly Sills
Beverly Sills
Wearing lots of diamonds and bling
Lis'nin' to Beverly Sills
[harpsichord solo]
With my voice, I don't stand a chance
It's something that you're born having
And I just don't have it
No I don't
I have no talent, never will
And that will always be my thing
I might as well enjoy my life
And hear ole Bev sing
Beverly Sills
That's how I want to sing
Lis'nin' to Beverly Sills
Beverly Sills
Wearing lots of diamonds and bling
Lis'nin' to Beverly Sills
Beverly Sills
Beverly Sills, Yeah!
Beverly Sills

never heard of her, but you're right, the name begs a parody, and here it is - nice use of Carol Burnett too, Steve - 555
