The Lyrics

I'm at badave.com Count on this one being recorded sometime likely this year.
(It starts with clothes)

Earings
Above my eyes
Never getting fatter trying to look fly
Change all the time
My skin shines I'm fine
Latest fashions I find
*Nice shoes bro*

Finding new pants for the spring
Highlight my hair if that is the in thing
Pull my pants down if that's what's in today
Newest trends on display
*I must appeal*

Even wore pants with holes
Spending my dough to follow the flow
Put my hat on
like putting on a show
Wear to the back 'til
*that trend goes*

Abercrombie in stride, push my own taste aside
New clothes every month
Stylin' makes me glee
It's devoured me
like a shopping spree
Since the day
*I got charge cards*
And went bizarre
Wear Fashion Trends
Following the patterns
Next up is fall
Let's hit the mall
I'm gonna spend
Until my wallet shatters

More bling
A Mohawk high
At least until that style is out in July
Spending my dimes
Calvin Klien's divine
When combined with a belt
*and Master Card*

If Yahoo says hot I won't disagree
I will go and buy it, I guarantee
Being ahead of the lines is the real key
I am smirkin'
*like the stars*

Ev-en all of my home decor
Is really looking just like a fashion store
Some say that I have no edge
But I'll never look silly
*This I pledge*

So let industries decide
and let them be your guide
Don't even depart
You can live care free
looking sparkly
smell like potpourri
looking fine and
*Without regard*
Just swipe your card
Cause Fashion Trends
Are all that really matters
Don't think at all
You'll have a ball
And oh my friend
Don't think about it after

Your look is so taboo
That is so Two-Thousand Two
For my bliss
Those old Reebox must sure go

I'll make you look brand new
Help as much as I can bro
This abyss
Exists if you follow the flow

Pull out your cards
Get in your cars
Lets all go spend
Our looks are all that matters
From wall to wall
Forget your balls
Fashion Trends
Just leave your old crap scattered

This was great! How many times did you have to listen to this song before you actually came up with something for it, I want to call you and discuss this with you, because for the last week or whatever you've been scratching your head trying to come up with something awesome with this, and it looks like you've achieved it.
MrMacphisto - June 03, 2008 - Report this comment
Awesome! and using a Linkin Park song for this was so appropriate... lol

Have you thought of going drag?
Rick C - June 04, 2008 - Report this comment
Yes, there will be a recording, won't there?

LOL 2Eagle, can't say that I have to be honest:) Joel and Rick, yes--almost definitely, Matthias--I have no idea, I had the song pretty much memorized by the time I came up with this, and thank you MrMacphisto, I thought so too!

Love your newest recording! Although your pacing is a bit off on the written work you fixed that all with the recording! This was still a pretty great idea, and something that we all can relate to because even if we are fashion minded (I'm not as you can tell) many people we know live their lives this way.

(ABC-5F)

I like the grammatical freedom I have because I do not write for recording. I am sure that your recording of this makes a definite fashion statement.

"That is so Two-Thousand Two"

This parody is not likely to go out of fashion anytime soon. Well done, BAD.

(ABC) I'm with Guy ...this parody transcends time better than Linkin Park will. That's one sign of a good parody. "This abyss exists if you follow the flow" sounds like something LP would use as a lyric. :) Was that on purpose?

Guy picked out my favorite line here. I have to say this is one of the few parodies of yours I like better as a write than a recording, which is good since this is a writing contest. =). Great job on nailing all the irregular rhyming, as well as putting together a song and topic that *shouldn't* work together, but do.

(ABC) "A Mohawk high - at least until that style is out in July" was my fave line Dave - love the rhythm of it - was this for a Decathlon fashion event? I can't recall - some lovely work on the short lines too - 555

Wow, you really got the syllable-matching thing down. Not hilarious but very clever; well done. And the recording was good too, especially the rapping parts.

(Ages2) TMGLTM. 555!

Damnitt, I meant ABC4, not Ages2. Oops!

(ABC) Cleverly written, and I agree with the sentiments. A couple of good laughs. However, I found the song hard to follow, and that diminished my enjoyment. 5-4-5.

In the end...you came up with a great song here! Very technically well done, and the recording worked well too
