The Lyrics

I'll do anything to get noticed...this time for the 'Summertime Blues' comp...
Yaa-aa-aa-aa-aawn
Yaa-aa-aa-aa-aa-aawn

I'm glad that school is over
It's such a relief; not hard tests no more!
Thank goodness
At first it's like WOO-HOO!
On holidays lots stuff you're free to do
But then when you take time to think
What is there to do, nothing's new
I've run out of stuff

Damn! I've nothing to do
The beach ain't that great, it's open 'till eight
Too many people
There; and there is no air
And so why should I care
Summer is boring me

What I have noticed is this
TV show's are gay
Watching that snow fall, it makes me so pissed
I try, change the channel
Can't watch a show that don't show snow, it just repels
Me from the TV, so now what
Can I do, when there's zilch to watch?
Man, that sucks

Damn! I've nothing to do
No friends of mine would, take me to their place
So unpopular
And I do not like sports
Them: "Is it Crows or Port?"
I don't care, about that crap

Bored bored bored bored bored bored
Bored bored bored bored bored bored

"OI! WAKE UP!"
"But Mum, why do I have to get up. It's summer; squat to do"
"Of course ther is! There's tons of stuff to do in summer"
"Oh yeah? Like what?"
"Well, um, there is um, the beach, and um, the TV, and um, your friends, and..."
"Oh, that's it! Back to bed. I can't do those things"
"Oh, you have a point"

Damn! I've nothing to do in summer
Sun's bright anyways, and I'm broke
Damn! I'm better asleep all summer
I think I'll stay in bed

Damn! I've nothing to do
It's tedious to, write more parodies
And let's not forget
It is too hot to stay
At the comp the whole day
My ass sticks to the seat

Damn! I've nothing to do
Guess I'll just have to, wait for Christmas day
Yes, that's right Christmas
'Cause in Aussie summer
Is at the end of year
So just get used to it!
Next parody will be similiar to this one...guess how!

Pretty well-done for a dude with nothing to do!

This parody isn't boring, 555.

(SB) Only 3 months to go... nice job describing the situation.

(Summertime) Ah, the joys of complacency. I feel the same way during this season.

At least there's the winter to look forward to

(SB) Good job, I especially like the subs for the spoken part.

Enjoy the nothingness to do while you can!!! (Unless you become a teacher and you still get to do it when you're old).

Well, I won't be watching for snow, but as for the rest of this I can relate. Funny work here bobpiecheese. Even though I only remember how the choruses go, what you have paces well to that, with good subs for "I'm not that innocent".
Stuart McArthur - June 21, 2006 - Report this comment
(SB) well, bobpie, to write a summertime parody and include the line "Is it Crows or Port?", referring to two of our Aussie Rules winter sport teams certainly proves the point that you're not a sports head, but it was "noice" to see them get a mention!! - oh, and a funny choice of OS that worked beautifully

Dude. If your ass is sticking the seat, sit on a towel, luffs. >>;; But it is hilarious and pretty much exactly like me ^_^

COP - You do nothing better than anyone I know and it seems as though you will stop at nothing - sooo, I'm going to do absolutely nothing and see if you stop. Nice parody.

I got nothing better to do, except to give you 3 set of 5's! Great parody relating to the summertime blues! I went through the same in high school. Made me wish I was back in day camp because there's lots of fun things to do and friends to be with. Wanted to go back that time but I was too old for day camp. Great job, Parody Conqueror!

(ABC) This is an oldie from you, in terms of subject matter...I always like your stuff best when it's not the same old topics (school, TV, games, etc.)
Claude Prez - April 15, 2009 - Report this comment
Good title; I have to admit I didn't think it flowed that well -- the syllable count seemed okay, but the words you used often required emphasis in the wrong places. Not trying to put you down, just trying to be helpful.
Matthias - April 15, 2009 - Report this comment
Sorry T-Cop, I can tell that this is one of your earlier works because I kinda agree with Claude on this one and that didn't really flow all that well. The good news is that you've improved a lot since this parody.
Jason - April 27, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC-D) Neat idea. Liked the title as well. Very good.
Below Average Dave - April 28, 2009 - Report this comment
I felt that it didn't flow well, seemed off stressed in spots, you nailed the rhyme scheme, but the grammar on the other hand, well you can tell it's not one of your newer pieces, you've improved a lot since this, you choice of wording has improved and your pacing on all fronts has gotten better. Sorry Conq, I can't say this was a favorite by you.
Stuart McArthur - April 28, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) see above - are you from Adelaide, bobpie? - and whattaya mean there's nothing good on the telly? - don't you get "Mornings with Kerrie-Anne Kennely" over there? - 555
bobpiecheese - April 30, 2009 - Report this comment
Stu - yes, I am from Adelaide (how the hell did you figure that out?). By 'nothing good on the telly', I mean 'nothing that I want to watch', which rules out anything in the morning because I'm always half-conscious then :P
Red Ant - May 01, 2009 - Report this comment
Having listening to the original song, there are a lot of places where the stresses of your words fall in unintuitive places. And yeah, there's some clunky grammar as well ( "not hard tests no more!", "On holidays lots stuff you're free to do"). Overall, I still like it.
Melanie Lee - May 01, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) Not bad... A couple of amusing parts. The pacing seem rough here and there. It may have helped to mention the Southern Hemisphere a little earlier, as it would have helped to "place" the song in our minds. 5-4-4.
Jeff Reuben - May 01, 2009 - Report this comment
Obviously I love the OS. I thought the parody was just okay though. Funny, but didn't have me rolling on the floor. A decent job though.
