Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Warrant

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Warrant's, "Cherry Pie"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Cheese Pie, Cherry Pie
Lookin' so good,
Peach Cream Pie
Lookin' so good
Makes your old man cry
My Cheese Cherry Pie
The Real Lyrics:
She's my cherry pie
Cool drink of water
Such a sweet surprise
Tastes so good
Make a grown man cry
Sweet cherry pie
The Story: The only time my sister and I actually heard this song was at a store on a Garage Band demo. She thought that the singer must have been pretty drunk to write a song about how much he liked cherry cheesecake ("cheese pie") and peach cream pies! - Submitted by: A frequent visitor who prefers to remain anonymous

The Misheard Lyrics:
I got now where left to go?
But no one really care.
I don't need what you do.
But I never giving up on your... heaven is too far away.
The Real Lyrics:
I've got nowhere left to go.
No one really cares.
I don't know what to do.
But I'm never giving up on you.
Heaven isn't too far away.
The Story: First, how late singer Jani Lane reaching the English second-person pronoun? It sounding like that Jani Lane mistakenly singing "your" instead of "you". Second, how that band will find their way? The road to their home is too far away. About this song: Featured on their debut studio album, "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich", released on 31 January 1989, it was the album's second single and later their first greatest hit on both the UK Singles Chart and Billboard's Pop Chart (reaching #93 on the UK Singles Chart and later faring better on Billboard's Pop Chart with reaching #2 but failed to reaching number-one on that chart). But this awards of "Heaven" became that band's greatest song to date. - Submitted by: Wisnu Aji
