Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Jack Johnson

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Brushfire Fairytales album at
Jack Johnson's, "Broken"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Well it's feeling like my life is "find the mine"
The Real Lyrics:
Well it's feeling like my life is finally mine
The Story: I always assumed he was singing about how he keeps putting his foot in it (like playing "minesweeper", in a figurative way). And not only could I really relate to that, I also thought that was a great way to phrase it. Quite some time went by before I finally found about the true lyrics, and I was extremely disappointed ;) - Submitted by: Valentin
Jack Johnson's, "Bubble Toes"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Her eyes are as big as a buffalo's toes.
The Real Lyrics:
Her eyes are as big as her bubbly toes.
The Story: My 7 year-old-son swore that it was "buffalo's toes". To this day, we intentionally sing the lyrics with "buffalo's toes". - Submitted by: Sherri
