Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Human League

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Human League's, "Don't You Want Me?"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Push your legs behind if you think you've changed your mind.
The Real Lyrics:
It's much too late to find
You think you've changed your mind.
The Story: I was 12 but couldn't figure out this stupid lyric for about 20 years. - Submitted by: Steve Lockwood
Human League's, "I'm Only Human"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Won't your breast feed me?
The Real Lyrics:
Won't you please forgive me ?
The Story: My sister is 10 years older than me. She was born in 1978 and I was born in 1988. I always heard her singing "won't your breast feed me?" while singing the song. Now that I am 20 years old, I decided to finally look up the lyrics and we're both laughing hysterically because we found that it actually says won't you please forgive me. LOL!! I have been telling everyone about this song and how it says won't your breast feed me. - Submitted by: Samar
Human League's, "Mirror Man"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Here comes the Mirror Man - Says he's a pig-boy fan.
The Real Lyrics:
Says he's a people fan.
The Story: Human League are a Sheffield band. Phil Oakey supported Sheffield Wednesday. Sheffield Wednesday call Sheffield United "The Pigs". If you actually listen carefully to the end of the track you will hear the sound of a pig grunting behind the very final lines of the song. Of course it would have been too inflammatory to include "pig boy fan" in the lyrics and may have lost a lot of local (Sheffield) fans. - Submitted by: Kent Owl
