Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Crosby, Stills, Nash And Young

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Misheard Lyrics:
Well, I am going down to yes this farm.
The Real Lyrics:
Well, I am going down to Yasgur's farm.
The Story: I never knew what Yasgur's farm was or the 'Woodstock' story until I read the online lyrics about 6 months ago, even though I have known the song since the 70's. - Submitted by: Daryl
The Misheard Lyrics:
Poor dad in Ohio
The Real Lyrics:
Four dead in Ohio
The Story: Eesh...the first time I heard this song when I was about 10 years old. My mom is a die-hard CSN&Y fan, so I often heard this song. Anyways, when my family would have cookouts in the summer, we would hook up all the stereo equipment and do a little karaoke. So I decided I wanted to sing Ohio, even though I hardly knew any of the words. So I was attempting to sing it, and I started screaming 'Poor dad in Ohio!!!', and everyone first just kind of stared at me, then they were laughing so hard and I had no idea why! So my mother took me aside and told me the correct lyrics to it. I was so embarrassed! - Submitted by: Roxy
