The Beatles', "Getting Better"
The Lyrics:
"I used to be cruel to my woman I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved"
Why:
Pretty self explanatory it's saying how Paul used to beat his woman. Not very cheerful. But the song has a quite upbeat tempo

The Beatles', "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"
The Lyrics:
Bang bang, Maxwell's silver hammer came down on her head
Bang bang, Maxwell's silver hammer made sure that she was dead.
Bang bang, Maxwell's silver hammer made sure that she was dead.
Why:
It's about a serial killer brutally murdering people with a hammer. Yet it's also upbeat and cheeky, with anvil sound effects accompanying the "bang bang" onomatopoeia.

The Beatles', "The End"
The Lyrics:
And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make.
Why:
This was the very last song that the Beatles recorded, on their last album. It's uplifting and yet sad at the same time.
