Song Parodies -> Recordings -> Red Ant, 'Hey There, Maria' Comments

Nov 12
a parody of "Hey There, Delilah" by Plain White Ts
The Plain White Ts had other girls to sing about, but didn't for reasons which become obvious here...

Funny song, good voice there! Is that you playing the guitar background? Glad I waited to play this until my daughter was asleep =)

Thanks Jeff! The guitar was a backing track I purchased: I'll PM you with the details. I see you've got a new song up today: I'll check it out tomorrow evening when I have more time and am not hella wore out from work and driving.

Heehee This is funny. Are you going to make all of your parodies Recorded? I would really like to hear "please yourself" or at least "Why did the chicken cross the road" those are funny!

Thanks Joel. I've spent the better part of the morning looking for backing tracks. I can say that there is little or no chance of any of my alternative/grunge songs being recorded (inlcuding "Please Yourself") do to the lack of backing tracks. They have that Beatles' song: I'm not sure if I will record that one.

Thanks Spoof-Man and Pat. As soon as I get over this cold I might try recording soon - there is a backing track available for "Nights In White Satin".

(POTM) Wow Jack, looks like you've got quite a few comments for a recording. . .I think this one is alright, I have to be honest, I think that whether or not you know it, rap (Foul Mouthed Me) is your strong point in performance, but this one is good in it's own right.

Voice is slightly weak but I thoguht this was really funny if not a bit rude, but good job overall

Looks like it's not just me that had troubles hitting some of the notes on this song ;-) Hope the penicillin does the trick, Jack.

The recording is MUCH better than the lyrics, so you'll probably get higher points on this than you did for SOTM. I agree with what Dave told me though.... This is like a shorter version of "Desolation Row" a very boring original song.

Idea: 1 - You ripped off Bob Rivers, heh heh. Actually, I'd probably give me a 7 - not the super most original idea, but good for this song.
Lyrics/humor: * - I can't really rate myself fairly here. I liked it though.
Singing: 7 - You were off time early for the last verse and chorus, and there is a plosive on the word "pay" despite your 3 pop filters in place. Pretty good throughout though.
Backing track: 9 - Same as Josh2'. I think TOS has another instrument in about halfway through the song the karaoke version lacks, otherwise very good.
Production/mixing/editing: 7 - Nothing good or bad sticks out.
Sound Effects/Bites: n/a
Video: n/a
Overall: I guess that's for everyone else to decide. =)

Thanks Dave, Josh, Phil and Matt!
