Song Parodies -> Recordings -> Phil Alexander, 'Dumbledore's Gay' Comments

Oct 29
a parody of "Runaround Sue" by Dion
He's a 150-year-old wizard, who as far as all the HP stories are concerned is way beyond the point where he's copulating... so why bother saying "he's gay"?

I just read the lyrics and I LOVE THEM!!! You need to post this song, because with it you're probably going to win SOTM.

Thanks, Matthias - they'll get posted at some point over the next couple of days. I wanted to get the recording up today, 'cause I realized that I didn't have a POTM entry this month. This was a straight digital-camera-to-PC recording (took two or three attempts to get vocal level right, as I can't mix it that way), and the video is here at youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzBkQ-MuXhk

I would like to make a video of this one.... It looks like it would be fun.

After listening to the song, I don't know if I could do a video. You would have to make it a lot cleaner... I can tell that it was a straight from digital camera to PC recording.

The main thing I have to say about this one is just that I have to applaud the fact that you did your own guitar part, that was a talented performance. Not the funniest thing I've heard from you, but short and sweet most certainly

This is one of the funniest parodies I've heard, as good if not better than spaff (and you record your own stuff :D). it could cos im a massive HP geek but i found it really funny. Plus you have an awesome voice and your play your own backing track so kudos

I disagree with Dave, I think that this is one of your most HILARIOUS parodies ever written. I cracked up many times listening to this song, but I guess to each one's own. I also applaud you on creating your own music. Awesome job!!!

Now now Matthias, I didn't say it wasn't funny, almost everything by Phil is funny. . .but yes Phil's talent was shining on this piece. .

Idea: 7 - HP parodies are by no means unique, but this topic was.
Lyrics/humor: 9 - Despite my lack of knowledge of all things HP, I quite liked this one.
Singing: 8 - This song is probably very hard to sing - I never considered doing it the way you did (no backing vocals), but props for pulling off a toughie.
Backing track: * - I haven't heard TOS in ages, and it would be hard to mark you down for just using a guitar. It worked, and that's all that matters.
Production/mixing/editing: n/a - I'm guessing that recording in front of a web cam is more or less a live take, but overall a default 7 score: nothing good or bad stands out here.
Sound Effects/Bites: n/a
Video: 7 - It ended a bit abruptly, but good video. A hell of a lot easier than spending tons of hours making some sort of animated one.
Overall: 8 - I think this is one of your better recordings, and that I got a kick out of a topic with which I'm not too familiar....well, it hasn't happened in a recording since Spaff's "I Got Crabs From Darth Vader", so you're in good comany.
