I looked it up: The original was written by Patrick Gilmore, who came from County Galway to America with the "famine Irish" in the 1840s, was America's first great bandleader in the 1850s, wrote other Civil War songs in the 1860s, and in the 1870s founded the forerunners of both the Boston Pops and Madison Square Garden. As for the parody, in the words of The Last President, Bill Clinton, "It would be funny, if it's not so pathetic!" Five bars of "Reveille."
Clever choice of OS... "pension nears", good; "Oy Vey" a funny incongruity. 555.

Thanks guys. I don't venture in to the political arena too often, but my son is in the Air Force, and the longer this thing drags on, the more chance of him having to go there.
Your first and thrid paragraph don't make any sense. The second one does and its funny as are some of the lines of the first and third, but if you want honesty....

Thanks TT. So far he's not "Over There" As far as the first and third stanzas, Linda it's called sarcasm. Something that people here use when they say how happy they are to get a comment from you.
