Thank you for the education, 2nz! Very enjoyable parody. And very interesting link, particularly the part that indicates that Bloody Mary was also the inspiration for "Mary Mary Quite Contrary."
If I recall correctly, most so-called nursery rhymes all harken back to English political scenarios (although "the cat and the rat and lovell our dog" apparently never made it to the toddler set).
