Song Parodies -> "Mall Rats And Englishmen Comes Out When The Power´s Down"

Original Song Title:

"Mad dogs and Englishmen"

Original Performer:

Noel Coward

Parody Song Title:

"Mall Rats And Englishmen Comes Out When The Power´s Down"

Parody Written by:

Peter Andersson a.k.a K1chyd

The Lyrics

This song is dedicated to my friends James Sharman (who supplied original lyrics and info) and Emma Saunders (who was affected by the blackout). It´s based on a song from 1930 (sic!) that can be found as a sound file over at www.maddogs.com
Mall rats and Englishmen comes out when the power´s down
Their cabbies don´t care to, the Tories forces Blair to
PHB and Limeybert are having a night on town
Just brownnosers detest-a fiesta

In the powerplant, you can hear´em pant, as supply is in demand
On Marseillian roads, they would swarm like toads, with no jumpstarters at hand
In pitch black, moral is slack, and the perverts dress in gown
But Mall rats and Englishmen comes out when the power´s down
© Peter Andersson. (PHB = Pointy Haired Boss. A Dilbert reference. And so is "Limeybert"). ;-)

Heehee, this one's great Peter *grins* *Hugs* Glad to know one good thing came out of the blackout.

I've been thinking of doing a parody to this song for a long while, but have never had the right subject matter: this was a good idea, but could have been executed better. Nowhere near enough verses, for a start.

There are more verses? Before my friend sat me up with these two verses I only knew the chorus by heart. Hmm.... there were two different lines (in text) on the page with the sound file, that should have been a clue, I guess...

Loads more... have a look here: http://www.sabrizain.demon.co.uk/malaya/coward.htm (just one of quite a few that turned up in Google)

Thanx! Should have checked with Google myself. My friend probably took for granted that I should, and/or that I already knew that there were more verses. :-)

I studied Coward's lyrics for years and loved his play "Blithe Spirit." Big surprise to see the song here! Loved the parody!

Pre-Vote Tally: Considering how much of the song that was left out (but I didn't know upon posting) I guess I'll have to be glad this still landed an average around 344.
