Song Parodies -> "Did That Stupid Bum Lose Your Favor"

Original Song Title:

"Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor"

Parody Song Title:

"Did That Stupid Bum Lose Your Favor"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

Written in 1924 by Ernest Hare & Billy Jones, Donegan, the King of Skiffle, brought it back in 1958. And, yes, there is a reference to the President in the OS, though Eisenhower isn't mentioned by name. I can't remember who thought up the phrase "Third Reich From the Son," but it wasn't me.
Oh me, oh my, oh you!
Whatever shall we do?
Hallelujah, I oughta sock it to ya!
I'd give a lot of dough
if only I could know
why you told Dubya two times yes
but now you tell him no!

Did that stupid bum lose your favor
when his dead boasts fell so slight?
If his father said, "Don't take Iraq"
did he go in for spite?
Did he flub the war on terror?
Does he wing it too far right?
Did that stupid bum lose your favor
when his dead boasts fell so slight?

He called us to our pride.
We all flocked to his side.
He said, "We will not falter,"
just as steady as Gibraltar.
So much he's requesting.
We gave him everything.
Osama slipped from his fingers and
the choir begins to sing:

Did that stupid bum lose your favor
when his dead boasts fell so slight?
If his father said, "Don't take Iraq"
did he go in for spite?
Did he flub the war on terror?
Does he wing it too far right?
Did that stupid bum lose your favor
when his dead boasts fell so slight?

See the nation rise as one
at "Third Reich From the Son."
Up in the White House!
Yes, the nation's sacred lighthouse!
To voice their discontent
unto the pRes-i-dent
for low wages and hurricanes
have swept this continent!

If tinhorn dictators are made of tin,
what the foghorn is going on?

(The supposedly liberal American media)
How should we know?

(Mike)
Did that stupid bum lose your favor
when his dead boasts fell so slight?
If his father said, "Don't take Iraq"
did he go in for spite?
Did he flub the war on terror?
Does he wing it too far right?
Did that stupid bum lose your favor
when his dead boasts fell so slight?

(Manhattan and New Orleans and the Middle Eastern fight!)
He starts to work on Monday, he's screwed up by Tuesday night!
When his dead boasts fell so slight?

(So why does Congress not investigate him for a crime?)
There ain't no money in it and they haven't got the time!
When his dead
boasts
fell
so
slight!
Yeah!
Nope, that word "pRes-i-dent" is NOT a typo.

Excellent! (but how do you REALLY feel?)

I mostly support the way the War on Terror is being fought, but this is a strong parody - 545. I think the title and first line of the chorus would have been somewhat better rhyming with "bubble" instead of "gum," - "Did George W lose your favor." Also, the economy has been expanding for 5 years; so, if someone has a problem with low wages, it is likely his own fault, not the president's.

TJC: I'm kinda down on the guy. DD: The economy is NOT expanding except for the top 1 percent. INCOME is rising. WAGES are not. If someone has a problem with low wages, it is likely the fault of the corporations that won't raise them. The Waltons of Wal-Mart infamy do for small-town businesses what Walter O'Malley did for Brooklyn, and they'll end up where he is now. Also, I want to leave a note for Arwen: This song is about Bush, and if one of your ex-boyfriends fits the profile, that's strictly a coincidence!

Love TOS. Love this parody - the "tinhorn dictators/what the foghorn" line was priceless. 555
