Parody Song Title:

"Tweaked Red's Pique (Figure Skater Evan Lysacek)"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Evan… Gold win: Evan
Unsurpassable in artistry, technique
Apollonian in figure and physique [1]
Charismatic, debonair and oh-so-chic [2]

Evan… Free skate: heaven
And the flair Plushenko showed throughout the week
Seemed to vanish, like the Russians' winning streak
Left him pouting—rather, ranting—peak of pique

Yes, Plushenko was the champ'ion
And he figured he'd repeat
But he didn't count on Lysacek
An upset; sad defeat

Af-terwards, he stood there b*tching
He delivered shots so cheap
Sour grapes: the scores "absurdly wrong!"
Evgeni, you're a creep!

Rant, did he:
"I spun the quad, and not you" [3]
Disarmed; they tout you
You carried it through, true....

Evan… Cheering Evan
Hearts were beating so that we could hardly speak
Perfect "Fire-bird"; "Scheherazade", complete [4]
Newest hero: Skating venue Olympíque!

[1] No relation to Apoloohno-ian, wink-nudge ;)

[2] TT thinks a certain violinist has a crush...

[3] Lysacek was quite gracious and sportsmanlike in victory, but Evgeni Plushenko immediately started claiming he'd been robbed, or words to that effect. It boiled down to this:
"I did the quad, and he didn't. So I win."

The quadruple toe loop (jump up, spin four times in the air, land smoothly) is one of the most difficult tricks in figure skating, and is Plushenko's trademark. BUT:

It isn't a contest to see who can do the most difficult single trick. It's four minutes and forty seconds of "total routine", Dude, including versatility in elements and tricks, overall choreography, and GOE -- Grade of Execution. And yours sucked, while Evan nailed his -- *all* of them. Even the famous quad had a slight bobble on the landing .... and Russki ran out of tricks with about a minute left, and just sort of ambled around, killing time, while Evan (amazing likeness of names here) put on a smooth, full, versatile performance from start to finish. In fact, their scores for Artistry were identical… so it did all come down to the *quality* of the jumps. And Evan Lysacek won, by superior Grade of Execution.

Never one to concede graciously, Plushenko has awarded himself a "platinum medal" on his *own* web site. Go suck your thumb, crybaby.

[4] Plushenko will rue that day for 1,001 nights.;) (Drummer: Rimsky-shot!)

I hate you

YOU didn't land a quad and I'm still going to score you 5-5-5 for artistry! ;D
Mark Scotti - February 24, 2010 - Report this comment
I can't do the quad, but i will do three quints for this performance!
cLutzy - February 24, 2010 - Report this comment
Lexcellent form and icy dénouem.... er, 'gaynouement ewe tewe!
[And PS: Doin' the triple Axel Rose... you can still end up a quad!]

As Natalia Macarova once said, "In Russia is good to be tempramental.". Lysacek skated a flawless performance while Plushenko looked rather sloppy. By the way, I'm happy to meet someone else who is into skating.
Timmy1000 - February 24, 2010 - Report this comment
Agree with this - Evan looked much smoother throughout the whole program.
John Barry - February 24, 2010 - Report this comment
Best Olympics report yet. And speaking indirectly of scoring, the 1s cretin seems to be out in force today.

Plushenko: Lay off the Stolichnaya a little, and maybe you'll be smoother next time, eh, malyenki malchik?

Old Man Ribber: No, but I've landed on my quads (and hamstrings, but mostly glutes) a number of times....

Mark Scotti: Quintius Maximus!

cLutzy: But every time my Axel Rose, FG would say that we should get our minds back on parody-writing..... :-(

Ausfahrt:: Fahren Sie aus -- viel aus.

2Eagle: If you ever saw a little green guy with flippers rollerblading down the bike path that runs from Redondo Beach to Santa Monica, with a slight detour around Marina del Rey and LAX, 'twas moi... originally invented to help hockey team practice during the summer, and sure makes the transition easier for us warm-weather critters.

btw, I don't think FG is so much into ice skating per se, as she is into Evan himself, as per skate-note. Her spin on the pun nick here would undoubtedly be "Ever Likes A Czech" (his heritage). :-)

Timmy1000: The judges felt the same way - in fact, *everyone* felt the same way, except for Plushenko and the Russians. (And who cares what *they* think?)

Funny take on it all
Fiddlegirl - February 24, 2010 - Report this comment
Again, TT beat me across the finish line! (I must have chosen the wrong skis today...) ;)

Thanks to all!

@ 2Eagle: Yes, I do enjoy watching the skating... all except for the ice dancing. And when the skater is as handsome as Evan, well, so much the better, eh? ;)

John Barry: Sorry, your comment cross-posted with my non-altar-ego's. And yeah, Al Gore should do something useful, and start a new campaign: "Stop Global One-ing"! :) ... Thanks for v/c.

Phil Nelson: Thanks.

FG: Aren't we on skates here? ... Oh, so THAT's why you were so far behind! :) :) :)
Christie Marie M - February 24, 2010 - Report this comment
This sure took Evan skating "feet to feet"...to the finish line! Too bad for Plushenko! A perfect formation of 555's with this satire!
Christie Marie M - February 24, 2010 - Report this comment
Did I say finish line? Oops, wrong event. I meant "skating feet to feet...to the Gold!"

Creative idea to a really fun original song. . .great job on the pacing.

A Triple/Triple combination of thanks to Phil N, CMM, and BAD :D

@ TT: LOL! Well, yeah, that would explain it! ;)

Christie Marie M: "Lutz" of thanks!

Below Average Dave: I must give credit: OS choice was Fiddlegirl's, and yes, she does get quite "cheeky" at times ;) Thanks for v/c.

I watched the exibition skating last night and Plushenko's performance was so outstanding that it had Scott Hamilton raving. The Russian skaters are the best because they are trained by the Bolshoi ballet.
Tommy Turtle - February 28, 2010 - Report this comment
LadyC&C&: It's unfortunate for Plushenko that he couldn't be that smooth in the actual competition, isn't it? ... Maybe the pressure got to him. Thanks for stopping by.

btw, the US has won more than twice as many Olympic figure-skating medals as Russia has over the years. If you count the Soviet Union, which would have included what are now many different countries (Belarus, Ukraine, etc.), it comes out exactly even.
Ravyn Rant - February 28, 2010 - Report this comment
Thank you! I haven't written a skating parody since Johnny Weir lost his national title, so I'm glad someone else took it up! 555 - this was a really great job! I haven't checked in for quite some time, there's some great stuff on the board.

Ravyn Rant: DK how we *both* missed your very kind words and votes, and sorry that it took almost a year to express our thanks -- but better late than never. ;) Thanks for v/c!
