Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Maxed-Out Credit Cards"

Parody Written by:

Maxed-out credit cards
Maxed-out credit cards
That's what Santa Claus brings
Makes sure we gets
DVD sets
Of Lord of the Rings
Bow in thanks to
Great big banks who
Lend us holiday thrills
Hope the toys'll still work next month
When Santa Claus brings the bills

Second mortgages
Second mortgages
Pay for ATVs
Trucks and boats and
Coonskin coats and
Plasma-screen TVs
Keeping up with
Numbnuts Jones gets
More expensive each year
So if Santa Claus don't bring food
We'll capture and eat his deer

Chapter Seven, Chap-
-ter E-leven, and
Maybe Chapter Thirteen
I declare it
Don't seem fair to
Throw the book at me
Repossessors
Mob collectors
Seem extremely upset
So block the chimney and lock the doors
'Cause Santa Claus brings me debt!

I love parodies that satirize the commercialization and hype of the holidays - well done.

At least the rhythmically challenged individual who gave you a 2(!) on pacing came to his senses when he got to "funny"; perhaps he should buy ELVES GONE WILD!!! At www.elvesgonewild.com!!! Only 9.99!!!! to hear for himself how it somehow manages to sound all right. (you said "numbnuts" heh heh)

The meter at the beginning of the last verse really does work. No, really. Maybe it's too much of an effort, though, so I don't blame people for not getting it. Even Robert Lund ditched it in his recording and went with his own scansion. But I thought his steel guitar semi-twang made the track turn out nicely, so I'll forgive him.

Anyhoo, thanks, C4P & Diiiva (I liked your joke so that's how I'm spelling it from now on) & B. Flo & JJ. And thanks for buying the CD, too. Only 499,990 more units and it'll be certified gold!

"Repossessing stuff is the hardest part of my job" -the Repo man from The Simpsons. Great parody here, Spaff, in the opinion of 'Devout Me'. (drat! commercial advertising is contagious!) 555

Awesome recording, and this parody is my favorite from EGW. When is a new CD coming out? You've got more than enough great stuff recorded to make one, if not two comedy CDs.

Thanks, Red. This may be my favorite one too. Watch for a new Robert Lund CD in 2007. I promise to plug it here until y'all are sick of it.
