The Lyrics

Former FBI agent Mark Felt has come forward as the "Deep Throat" that brought down the POTUS Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon in 1974, but apart from Michael Pacholek's take on the subject it's been a non-event here on AmIright so far (correct me if I'm wrong). From what little knowledge I do have on my side of the Atlantic I have therefore decided to chip in. I contemplated doing "Felter-Skelter" and/or "50 ways to probe a deep throat" but my ability to juggle references to supporting and unsupporting actors in this 30 year old crooked American drama isn't big enough so you'll have to settle for this silly little ditty. Also: "Blamage" is a Swedish word (apparently) that means "social mishap"/"public mishap", pronounce it with a "blaah" and as to rhyme with "garage" and think of it as an American-English neologism (so that I can get away with it). ;-)
Felt and Nixon, Felt and Nixon
Power absolute's a bag of tricks an'
masks the focal 'genda
to stop the grassroots' comprehend-a

Felt and Nixon, Felt and Nixon
They made the Watergate blamage a diction-
ary well of hokey
Though Dick's the one who's caught by Smokey

Lie, lie, Lies Incorporated;
Truth's an illusion
Sigh, sigh, sigh when your eyes open to
Galore confusion

Felt and Nixon, Felt and Nixon
Now tied together like Bill C and vixens
Yesterweek's egression
It might hold true
But I'll tell you
Ain't nothing new; moral regression

No Sir!

Very good take on an old mixed and sticky political saga

Short and to the point. A little like Nixon's head! 555

Boy this Deep Throat thing has been giving me flashbacks to the Watergate era! Rick C-- Speaking of Nixon's Head...http://www.groovedisques.com/nixon1.htm (indie rock band, quite good).

Follow the fives... What gets me is that Hal Holbrook, already a Hollywood heavyweight, was cast as Deep Throat in "All the President's Men" in 1976, and then we find out the source is a guy who does, in fact, look a little like Holbrook. How did the studio know?

Thanx all for the votes and comments. In my opinion he should have come forward 10-15 years ago, then people too young to remember anything about the mid 70s would still largely have been living at home and would have gotten the impact of what happened explained by their parents to a bigger extent. It’s still a big thing that he does it now I guess but one can also easily see that both him, Nixon and Watergate are “who?s” and “what?s” to large parts of the Britney generation.

A clever historical work and sharp political statement. 555

Good, creative rhyming and very good "Clinton/vixen" metaphor.

I guess I'd be too young to remember anything about the mid-70s, mostly because that's when I was born (more specifically, July of 1975, 11 months after Nixon resigned...so I guess I didn't miss anything!). Anyway, this is really funny stuff here...so I'm gonna vote 5-5-5!! =)
