The Lyrics

Like children during the holidays, Christmas In July is counting the days...not to December 25th, but to August 2nd (assuming that it hasn't been moved forward or back yet again!). Sadly, one thing has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt - demogougery and fear-mongering are infinitely easier than governing. I can at least feel some small satisfaction that our elected leaders finally will have to do some hard work this weekend. ;D

'Twill be a long weekend in D.C.,
For all those there it won't be easy.
We will see the same shtick that we all know so well.
When comes agreement? The next cold day in hell!
So while our land gets no direction
They're posing for next year's election.
Stop this senseless assault or we'll be in default,
And we'll change the gang in D.C.

(Instrumental break)

Let's have no more detours or else Standard and Poor's
Will rate you like Greece in D.C.!

This is the nineteenth installment of the series, and I'm beginning to appreciate the pitfalls of such an undertaking. Like my attempt at the amiright Impossible Seven, it's been an enlightening and humbling growth experience. ;D

There's one thing even better than the guillotine for this "Dung Crew". 350 million hands waving them good-bye and telling them "thanks, but we just don't need you any more". The people who really keep this country running will stay on the job. It's time to shatter these idiots' illusions that they really matter in the overall scheme of things.

Screw ’em all--or nearly. Most of these blowhards, on both sides of the aisle, couldn't make it in the real world, in which they clearly do not live. Merry Debtmass.

It'd be nice if we all could take a long weekend, wouldn't it? And how about these "stars" who take a year, 5 years, 10 years away from the limelight, from WORKING so they could "spend time with their family"? A nice luxury to have, huh? Then Garth Brooks appears on Oprah and his musical skills are just as pedestrian and sucky as ever. Go figure.

I'd rather comment on the parody, which is much milder but efficient in expressing frustration at gridlock (which is not always bad).
I have only two nits to pick: OMR ended 3 lines with "D.C.", and "agreement" is offbeat (maybe that was deliberate). ;^)
