The Lyrics

Before our lives went supersonic
We'd groove to the Philharmonic
On radios,
All good things close.
Comedians recite the meanest jokes,
Once, they all told the cleanest jokes --
I suppose
All good things close.
If Fireside Chats you like,
If hepcats you like,
If shift cars you like,
Bow'ry bars you like,
If el trains you like,
And, too, Claude Rains you like,
(An actor nobody knows),
Though ev'ry night turns out just dandy when
Philcos are tuned to "Amos 'n' Andy" shows,
All good things close.

But nowadays, our predilections
Are adverts for firm erections.
My share of those,
God only knows.
When proletariats, my heroes,
Surrender to ones and zeroes,
Big Labor knows
All good things close.
All folks scan their palms today
They pack arms today,
Gays play house today,
Man's a mouse today,
Silent flicks today
Are mostly nix today
Thanks to streaming videos.
When I'm a modern one percenter,
I'm renaming Lincoln Center,
And call it "Moe's."
Now I will close.

Ah yes, wonderful nostalgia. And this sure hits the needle nice. But if we did have access to ye old mythical time machine, would 'Back Then', really be all that?
