The Lyrics

...probably MORE than you ever wanted to know about grover cleveland...
the voters liked him a bit better
than that other fellow, jimmy g. blaine
he had a more impressive record
than that...tired prospect from maine
ol' grover's been chosen
and now he will command the reins

to a gal, he's proposin'
so his bach'lerhood, he'll lose
he wed frances folsom
when a bride he decided to choose
old grover has chosen
and left the others confused

he said "no money i'll loan ya"
he gave a lot of texans the blues
"no special favors, i'm providin'
or the rest will be wantin' their dues"
ol' grover's been chosen
vetoed some pensions, too

and once the railmen..liked him
till they discovered that grover blocked 'em
he thought it over and tripped them up and...
took it further...and really knocked 'em
screwed 'em over
ol' grover's been chosen
those regulations were through

by then he was a-stormin'
handed out the tariff warnings
at the term's end, the gent was through
gap was a riddle...four years in the middle
came back in '92
ol' grover's rechosen
yeah, once again he's renewed

you know he struggled in that next term
silver purchase act was stopped
he squelched the railroad strikers
angry, up and down, they hopped
lost his backers in time
the movement behind him dropped

ol' grover's been folded
ol' grover's been folded
ol' grover's been folded
ol' grover's been folded

ol' grover's been folded
william j. bryant, they choose

Alvin - Great title switch - that alone is worth 5's. Yeah and it is probably more information than I wanted to know about the man. He is only remembered because he was the odd ball who took a four year break between terms and has forever screwed up the numbered order of the presidency. Do you count him once or do you count him twice? Oh yeah, when they made large paper currencies old Grover was on the $1000.00 bill. I guess it beats being on a three dollar bill. =;-)

I thought this was a parody about the cute and fuzzy blue monster from Sesame Street. I'll just give it ones.

Funny and informative. I think the cute and fuzzy Sesame Street monster was named after the Prez because he was such a greta president twice. I did like that title.

Yes, Sesame Street fans! There was a president named Grover. Not only was Stephen Grover Cleveland the 22nd and 24th President, he won the popular vote in 1888 as well. Simple put (ala Drew Carry) Cleveland Rocks! ;D

Nice of you to put US political history to the beat, Alvin! His presidential re-election in 1892 will never be forgotten! Well executed parody. I listened to both versions of the OS: Chuck Berry's and The Beatles, which both sounded awesome! BTW, There's this school in Caldwell, NJ named after him: The Grover Cleveland Middle School. I haven't been there or went to school there, though. But I did learn about him in US History and watched an educational vid about him. Well executed satire! 5's!
