Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Crocodile On The Christmas Tree"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

This is pretty much the true story of what I did with my children this weekend... exaggerated a little, maybe, but basically what happened...
Crocodile on the Christmas tree
As the children decorate
We started out at quarter to three
And now it's half past eight

Lots of bits on the Christmas tree,
As the children make their choice
Tinsel and baubles, stars and lights
And twenty dozen toys

I've just caught a glimpse of what I
Think is Pooh Bear
Rabbit, Eeyore, Owl and Tigger
How I'm glad this tree ain't bigger

Crocodile on the Christmas tree
Snapping at the fairy's toes
How'd it get up there? Don't ask me
But there's a happy face that knows

I've just caught a glimpse of what I
Think is Machamp
Pikachu and more of them on -
And if they fall off, just poke 'em on (groan... sorry)

Crocodile on the Christmas tree
And the Christmas spirit flows (hic!)
They're decorating merrily
'Til soon they come to blows...

Merry Christmas!

Must admit, PA, I don't particularly like the "(groan... sorry)" snare-drum rim-shot you slipped-in to make sure your readers got the pun....it breaks up the rhythm and prevents the pun from sliding quietly and smoothly into the reader's awareness...but it's inconsequential - I still loved this parody and gave it the triple-5's that it most definitely deserves! Well done, and a very Merry Christmas to you, too, sir!

Touché :-) I played this to my elder two children, and that's basically how it played: there was an audible groan, and me saying "sorry" before picking up the rhythm again. Not that I'm really trying to beat the reader over the head with a blunt punstrument -perish the thought!

Not at all what I expected based on the title (anticipated Elton John puns). So very funny! Add three fives to your menagerie of decorations.

Poke 'em on? Come on - Groan. I did like this pun. It was well thought. I could imagine that the groaning and audible 'sorry' would work well in an actual rendition of the parody. Nice going Phil. 5's to you. C-ya-l8er alligator, so in a while crocodile.

Hey Phil - you were kind enough to read, vote, and comment on my recent parody of Simon and Garfunkel’s “I Am A Rock” called “Leonard Played Spock”, so I’m inviting you to come on over and check out my new parody of “I Am A Rock” called “I Am A Chalk”:

Steve Irwin would love this parody. He would say "LOOK AT THAT LITTLE SHEILA HAVIN' A HOLIDAY!"

"Pikachu and more of them on - And if they fall off, just poke 'em on" okay, THAT'S funny, in an audible groan kinda way

Excellent parody as ever Phil. I'd better not start singing this one at home lest my two get ideas!

Thanks, all...

PS Diva - it's "Philip" with one "l": that's one of the main reasons I've been "Phil" for the past twenty-five years is that I don't get pissed off with people spelling it wrong... and one one or two people spell "Phil" with two "l"s... (thank you very much, Phill Jupitus!)

Not many people can spell my real name , Phil. I can identify with that.
