Song Parodies -> Psychedelic Bands

Original Song Title:

"I'm An Old Cowhand"

Original Performer:

Bing Crosby

Parody Song Title:

"Psychedelic Bands"

Parody Written by:

Alvin Rhodes

psychedelic bands
they once ruled the land
but they played so loud
it was hard to stand
they would jam all night
and then take a bow
never tuned up once
cause they knew not how
and those dudes are all
over sixty, now
hippies too stoned to play
hippies too stoned to play

psychedelic bands
had some freaky fans
with their brains all fried
and their lives, unplanned
and these folks would drool
cause their minds weren't straight
it was music, stale
but they thought it great
cause they'd show up, ripped
in a blissed out state
hippies too stoned to play
hippies too stoned to play

they forgot the songs
all the lyrics blown
with the chords all fouled
melody unknown
but the crowd was mired
in the twilight zone
hippies too stoned to play
hippies too stoned to play
hippies...too stoned...to play

Crosby (Bing), Rhodes and Young! Fine, funny (wait... I forgot what I was going to say... Oh yeah...) fives-worthy farcical fare to a great ol' tune...

One of my favs by you alvin.
Besides "tuned up" they also never "turned down" because they didn't know how to do that either. I loved the "hippies too stoned to play" for the "yippie" line from the OS
TJC...you left out "Bash"

Hippy and trippy - two key qualities that make this parody special. Now, if only Bing sang In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, that would be out there!

This was TOO funny, and mostly because it took advantage of the syllables. And,' hippies too stoned to play' really caused me to laugh out loud. 5's
