My music hobby is performing old songs (mainly 30’s through 70’s). I write funny parodies for some of them. I change the song’s serious theme to something funny but retain original lyrics and rhyme as much as possible. This one got started by changing the song theme from "I found a million dollar baby in a five and ten cent store" to "I found that I could save like crazy in the 99 cents store".
It was a lucky April shower
I ducked behind an open door
And found that I could save like crazy
In the 99 cents store
The rain continued for an hour
I shopped around for three or four
Like taking candy from a baby
In the 99 cents store
BRIDGE
They were selling bargains
Right before my eyes
And I kept buying bargains
Till I was hypnotized
If you should run into a shower
Find a different open door
Or you’ll be hooked like me forever
On the 99 cents store
