The Lyrics

So...yeah...I've just been thinking about all the ridiculous DRAMA that is revolving around the vote count problem. There have always been those who seemed overly concerned with the vote count...but it's even worse now. Who honestly cares, people? I, for one, write and submit here because it's what I love to do...votes or no votes...the process is a part of who I am...the votes aren't. Sure...it's fun to get a bunch of 5s...but I'd rather get a clever comment out of the deal...(If the comments had been lost...then I'd be SOOO depressed...)...and really...if I submitted it...I LOVE it...so...that's all that matters in the end. So...my advice...lighten up, folks. Don't worry about it. If you're submitting for votes alone...then...I'm really sorry...but that's so lame I can't even say how lame it is. In short...move on...there are more important things...
I don't care if votes reset
I'll keep coming back I bet
Nope, it just won't make me fret
It's writing that I love

If my vote count falls apart
I swear it won't break my heart
I'll smile at this brand new start
'Cause writing's what I love

Folks as of late
Squawk and talk and then debate
Because their votes just might negate

If the voting time's turned back
I won't have a heart attack
Don't really need to keep track
It's writing that I love

Vote counts go to some folks' heads
I value comments instead
So, unlike some, I'm free of dread
It's writing that I love

555's great
But all those votes won't seal my fate
Or help me find a proper mate

A big deal, but why?
Shouldn't make a girl sigh
To see her votes fading by and by
No, I will not frown
My smile still will abound
I won't peek with a shriek
When numbers go down
I'll always love this site
And flirt with all my might
I even love it when with boys I fight
Whining? I've had enough
Sh*t happens, so TOUGH

IS WRITING WHAT YOU LOVE?

I don't care for standings much
Some folks are just out of touch
Who cares about votes and such?
It's writing that I love

Voting's not a clever art
They're not what made this hobby start
A good parody cheers my heart
And writing's what I love

DKTOS, but it's rather sweet - I agree that we oughtn't to get too hung up on this. Are you going to suggest this as a related parody on this news topic: http://www.amiright.com/newsitems/items/newsitem_1091038223.shtml

Excellent job, arwen! Yeah, I tried accessing the site on Wednesday but I guess it was down; yesterday I was too busy to surf the net; today I come to the site and find out that the vote counts got reset on lots of parodies. Anyway...this one was great; keep up the good work! :)

I'm with ya sister. DKTOS, so can't authentically rate you on pacing, but... to show my utter exasperation for the obsessiveness people have with this whole rating thing, rebel that I am, I decided to willfully award you a 5-5-5 that I cannot legitimately justify. Yep, I know that's right up there with Gandhi and King on the civil disobedience scale, but hey, I'm just fearless like that. Sometimes, you just gotta make a stand, damn the consequences.
Arwen - July 31, 2004 - Report this comment
Well thanks, Johnny...glad you liked it...and Leo...this rebellious streak...including the unjustifiable triple 5 in on a song that is meant to laugh in the face of the unjustifiable triple 5...well...it only makes you that much cooler in my book...thanks!

By the way, the sentiment in your parody is beautifully expressed.

Ever since I joined the Amiright "family", I've always skipped over my vote tally and gone to the comments section...anyone can click a mouse 3 times, but to take time to write a comment shows real appreciation. This is great, babe...not that you really care but here are 3x5s for posterity
