The Lyrics

An ode to the wondrous imagination of children, or some bullcrap like that.
Amazing that kids can play with anything
Time machine made from a cardboard box, really
I'm surprised what they do with such useless crap
Maybe "useless" means nothing to kids, makes me laugh

"Hey! Wait!
I got an idea, James
This busted breeze block could be a big time bomb"

"Hey! Wait!
I got an idea, Jake
This broken old stick could be a rocket gun"

"Hey! Wait!
I got an idea, James
We could be top spies sent to defuse that bomb
With the gun"

One day they're pirates searching for treasure chests
Then the next they're loyal knights, I do not jest
What imagination, Simon! What bright lads!
They come up with more stuff than I do when I am on crack

"Hey! Wait!
I got an idea, James
This patch of dead grass could be a big prison"

"Hey! Wait!
I got an idea, Jake
That old burnt tree stump could be the fat warden"

"Hey! Wait!
I got an idea, Jake
We could be bad guys who want out of prison
Where's a gun"

[solo]

These kids just play all afternoon and evening
Cloner made from a big cardboard box, really
I'm surprised that they do this with bits of crap
It scares me that they are thirty-one, makes me laugh

"Hey! Wait!
I got an idea, James
That old fallen tree could be the big boss, Grayve"

"Hey! Wait!
I got an idea, Jake
This pile of dead leaves could be where you save"

"Hey! Wait!
I got an idea, James
We could be heroes sent to deal with this Grayve"

"Swords okay?"
"Yeah, that's great"
"Brand new game"
"Idea" has two syllables in this, mmkay?

Is this one based off of the Calvin and Hobbes comic books? Because I can totally see Calvin in all of these situations.

Not directly, but it was a main inspiration.

Evocative of a time when you didn't have to have the official licensed merchandise to play something. Such youthful imagination is dangerous...these kids could grow up to become amiwriters. Nice job! ;D

Some really funny lines in here, but I think the best of them is: "They come up with more stuff than I do when I am on crack". Great parody T-Cop, One of your best.

(Artistry) Loved this one last read, and it still brings back those great memories, from myself and my children..

IDK, Conq...this didn't do it for me. It was a fantastic idea, but just not...imaginative enough to me in its execution.

Eh . . .TCOP . . .a tad to repetitive for me, You had a great idea here, but I don't think you put enough time into it to really develop it as much as you could have. . .a few good lines, but I think with some work this one could have been better than 'good'

(Artistry) Lovely idea. I think it could be made poignant by turning it into a commentary on growing up, so that the last lines have the kids - now older - using the cardboard box for packing, pulling out the tree stump, etc.
