"Smells Like Misheard Lyrics ( read this )"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

This is taken almost exclusively from the misheard lyrics section under Nirvana. There are maybe 20 words in the whole song that are not listed as misheard. No wonder this got massive airplay-everyone was trying to figure out the words. PS- I checked Weird Al's version and none of these come from that parody. PSS- Some of these must be jokes but I had to include the *somewhat* plausable lyrics. Of course, this parody makes zero sense. Don't kill me for someone else who needs hearing aids.
Blowed up on cuts, abrade your fence
It's fun to loot, and to pretense
Cheese overboard, and selfish sure,
I'm old enough for dirty words

Hey yall, alone, I know, and on, hell no
And round, and round, and round, how low
Hello, hello, hello

When the lights out, it's a stained dress
Do it all now, irritate us
Acting stupid, is contagious
And we all now, entertainers
Win the lotto, Hell if I know
I'm a skater, out of beano, yea
( Hey........... yea )

It wasn't what, I confessed
And fathers kill a field pest
Our little group has always been
An always will until the in

Hey yall, alone, I know, and on, hell no
And round, and round, and round, how low
Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it's a stage rush
And we've all got, Hepatitis
Life is stupid, and contagious
Here we are nouns, any day now
A milano, an inferno
I'm a scarecrow, I'm a female, yea
( hey.........yea )

( solo )

And I forget, just why I taste,
The laughing gas it make me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to fine
The will, whatever, never mine

Hey yall, alone, I know, and on, hell no
And round, and round, and round, how low
Hello, hello, hello

And the lights out, a$$ is dangerous
And we don't love, prison anu$
I feel stupor, it's contagious
Here we announce, mashed potatas
A mulatto, I'm a rhino,
A mosquito, in my speedos

A denial
All denial
Ah Dilaudid
I'm a night owl
Lemme die young
Want a diode
Friday night out
Cut an eye out
I deny all
There are close to 100 misheard lyrics for this song alone. This is the most inane parody I have ever made. Please don't shoot the messenger. :)

The funniest i've read in a while! I dont' know if it's just me, but I kept getting a bit stuck on your 'hello hello' bridges (the little bits before the choruses), not too sure, but I think they needed to be a bit longer. Really good quality, grats! 455
John Barry - May 03, 2005 - Report this comment
Funny and much better than the OS.
Red Ant - May 03, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks DAK and John. Yes you are right DAK, I missed a line of " Hello " before the chorus.

What makes it more funny is knowing that many people indirectly contributed to this parody just by mishearing lyrics! Before I started submitting parodies here, I looked up misheard lyrics for Metallica's "One," and the one misheard lyric that stood out to me was "Doctors are visiting me, all that I see" instead of "Darkness imprisoning me, all that I see." Oh, I laughed so hard! Ingenius parody idea, Red!
Larry Hensley - May 04, 2005 - Report this comment
Funny how funny misheard lyrics can be if they're the entire song. 5's
Red Ant - May 04, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Scrawny Johnny. Yeah, I don't think there is another song here listed with so many misheard lyrics ( Nirvana is number 2 on the list with about 950 of them, The Beatles are number 1 with over 1100 ). I *might* be able to do the same with "Yesterday" or another Beatles tune. Yeah, I kinda ripped off everyone elses bad hearing on this, but AFAIK misheard lyrics are not copyrighted and it would be absurd to even do such a thing. Thank you Larry Hensley as well.
Dominic L. - May 05, 2005 - Report this comment
Of course the pacing is perfect. Good idea, and even if it doesn't make sense, it's funny as hell.
Red Ant - May 05, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Dominic L. Believe it or not I could have made nearly 3 complete parodies with different misheard lyrics from JUST what is listed in the section here.

I agree that what some people hear in a song is ridiculous but can be funny.
John C - May 06, 2005 - Report this comment
A 5-5-5. I would never thought of that. Bravo

Thank you John C.

Error says: is am good. Step-chan gives it 5s.
Red Ant - May 11, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Step -Chan. I was going to buy Bleach yesterday at the record store so I could rate some of your parodies but they didn't have it ( it's on order now ). I'll break out some of my other Nirvana stuff though.
Stephen aka Step-chan - May 13, 2005 - Report this comment
That's cool. I don't know what you'll think of Bleach though, when Kurt Cobain compared it with Nevermind, He said Bleach sounded really one dimensional(at least to Nevermind).
Stephen aka Step-chan - May 15, 2005 - Report this comment
I don't know why I posted it like that. I guess my brain wasn't working properly from a long work day. I'm on vacation now, so I'll be popping in several days this week.
Red Ant - May 15, 2005 - Report this comment
I hope Bleach is good because it was still $13 ( Nevermind is still $19 after almost 15 years? ). I need a vacation as well.
Stephen aka Step-chan - May 16, 2005 - Report this comment
I like it as much as I like all the other albums. It is a rough album(not polished like Nevermind though, they recorded it in about 5 days). On the vinal(I think that's how it's spelled) there were 10 songs, on the CD there are 13.
Scrawny Johnny - May 26, 2005 - Report this comment
Holy cow, where in the world are you buying your CDs at? $13 for Bleach?? Best Buy, and I think their stuff is expensive, has Bleach for under $10! Oh, and "vinal" is spelled "vinyl" with a "y." No harm no foul.

The "random words" subgenre becomes a fad about once a year and then goes back into hibernation, in the future this is the mark all serious attempts in it will have to be compared to! Impeccable pacing except for the missing "hello" but since that's a repeat part I don't think that anyone will hold that against you. 555 from me.

I did one of my early parodies in this genre (everyone should try it once) and it's not 1/3 as good as yours. I also made the mistake of going with a classic (or so I though) Eurovision Song Contest winner from the 70s so you have me beat on the clever choise of OS too. Maybe it should be best forgotten but I'll give you the link anyway:

I appreciate the work and the research and your acknowledgement that "this parody makes zero sense," but I think I'm with Tim Mayfield in not completely appreciating misheard lyrics.
Spaff.com - June 23, 2005 - Report this comment
Excellent compilation of this song's misheard versions. This made me laugh - I'm quite pleased with it. Then again...
What else can I be? All a pile o' cheese?

A bit remiss in some thank-yous: Thanks Dumb Ass Kid, Agrimorfee, Charlie Decker, Tim Mayfield, Rick C, Adagio, Scathe, Peter Andersson, John Jenkins ( guess you and Tim won't be buying the misheard lyrics apparel ) and Spaff.

(SOTM)And I here I was thinking I was the only one who submitted a non-sensical (or what I call 'silly') parody for SOTM. I chuckled my prison an*s off reading this. The lines are sooo unrelated to each other and soooo silly I can't help but to love this. I tackled another often misheard lyrics song for Blinded By The Light you might wanna see (shameless plug alert!).. http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/brucespringsteenmanfredmann2.shtml Good work, Red Ant. Tri-fives!

(SOTM) I like parodies that rhyme playfully in a misheard-lyric kind of way -- they're a celebration of the music of words!

You mean he doesn't sing 'I'm a skater?' Wow. This is awkward. I guess it IS hard to bargle nardle zouss (???) with all those marbles in your mouth...
Red Ant - February 21, 2006 - Report this comment
Thanks Pat and Yet Another Dutchman. YAD, that line is "a mosquito".
Thirteen - May 09, 2006 - Report this comment
I loved this one! 555 from me. I do notice, though that some of these lines are the actual lines: "a mosquito" and "I forget just why I taste"....Wait, you mean, he that repeated line isn't "and on, and on, and on..."????!!!
The Rev. A. Palgut - May 22, 2006 - Report this comment
I noticed that "a denial" (the real lyrics) was the first you put up there.
The Rev. A. Palgut - May 22, 2006 - Report this comment
You forgot a Jeannie reference: "I'm a lover in a bottle" and my favorite "denial" mishearance: "Bloody Nile".
Thirteen - May 25, 2006 - Report this comment
Wow...I had really thought that line what "It wasn't what I confessed". I actually had to go look it up just now to see the real line ("I'm worst at what I do best"). And that line "lemme die young" is kind of ironic, considering Kurt Cobain's fate.
Red Ant - October 09, 2006 - Report this comment
Belated thanks Thirteen and Alan.
