| Parody Song Title: | "Hampton Roads Farewell" |
| Parody Written by: | Michael T. Mondak |
Hearing the song "Jamaica Farewell" is what got me out of my native Hampton Roads and up to Hermitage, PA, where I currently reside.
Down at James Hurst where the students play
And the teachers make them learn basic stuff
I walked right down Dahlgren Avenue
But when I reached James Hurst, they made me stop
Now I'm sad to say
I'm on my way
(On my way)
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down
My head is turning around
I had to leave my girlfriends in Hampton Roads
While at James Hurst I received
Many awards from my teachers
I also hang out with some girlfriends
Whether or not I played host to them
Still, I'm sad to say
I'm on my way
(On my way)
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down
My head is turning around
I had to leave my girlfriends in Hampton Roads
Down at the navy base, you can hear
People crying when my father retired
I knew that I was leaving the area
And never returning to live there again
Now I'm sad to say
I'm on my way
(On my way)
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down
My head is turning around
I had to leave my girlfriends in Hampton Roads
Down the way where the nights are gay
And the sun shines daily on the mountaintops
I took a walk down Dahlgren Avenue
But when I reached James Hurst, they made me stop
Now I'm sad to say
I'm on my way
(On my way)
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down
My head is turning around
I had to leave my girlfriends in Hampton Roads
I had to leave my girlfriends in Hampton Roads
I had to leave my girlfriends in Hampton Roads

I was drawn to this because that is my real name and there is a street in Burbank 4 blocks away by that name. My timing must be perfect since it looks like Calypso Day.
