Song Parodies -> My Aunt Will Drink Rum
| Original Song Title: | "My Heart Will Go On" |
| Original Performer: | Celine Dion |
| Parody Song Title: | "My Aunt Will Drink Rum" |
| Parody Written by: | Lucy Branston's Great-Granddaughter |
This is not based on the actions of a single relative, but is instead a parody about when I was sixteen or seventeen and just old enough to be able to tell when my relatives were starting to get incredibly drunk towards the end of parties for weddings, birthdays etc. Because I don't drink, I'm always able to tell when people around me are starting to get a bit worse for wear.
Every night after tea
We have coffee and mints
That is when my aunt will drink rum
Over cheese and biscuits
With Stilton and Edam
That is when my aunt drinks her rum
Big glass is passed through our hatch
I believe that my aunt will get drunk
Smashed plates on our kitchen floor
I just know in my heart
That my aunt will drink rum till drunk
Sober, then drunk one night
Influences youngsters
And it puts us off getting smashed
Alcohol for grown-ups
Does it make them mature?
Will we grow up acting like that?
Empty glass is dropped on the rug
And I see that my aunt's getting drunk
She can't get up from her chair
She's asleep on the table
My aunt has drunk rum, more rum
Mum, dad, say "You're young to drink"
But I see that my aunty is plastered
It puts you off alcohol
Whisky's safe in this house
Now my aunt's in a coma, now
We have coffee and mints
That is when my aunt will drink rum
Over cheese and biscuits
With Stilton and Edam
That is when my aunt drinks her rum
Big glass is passed through our hatch
I believe that my aunt will get drunk
Smashed plates on our kitchen floor
I just know in my heart
That my aunt will drink rum till drunk
Sober, then drunk one night
Influences youngsters
And it puts us off getting smashed
Alcohol for grown-ups
Does it make them mature?
Will we grow up acting like that?
Empty glass is dropped on the rug
And I see that my aunt's getting drunk
She can't get up from her chair
She's asleep on the table
My aunt has drunk rum, more rum
Mum, dad, say "You're young to drink"
But I see that my aunty is plastered
It puts you off alcohol
Whisky's safe in this house
Now my aunt's in a coma, now
