I never thought they'd go 8 and 8
They choked in the second half
And blew first place in the AFC West
And Oakland got the playoff call

Well Marty ball came into town
He started Brees over Flutie
And LaDainian Tomlinson
He was the reason why they won

And Junior Seau anchored the D
And Marcellus Wiley and Alex Molden
Showed why the Bolts could win
And San Diego was thinking playoff time

The schedule started off so right
The games they won were against
Teams who were sub .500 or struggling
But they blew some games they could of won

I never thought they'd blow 2 games
Against Seattle, St. Louis & The Chiefs
I guess it us Bulger's pass to Bruce
To collapse the Chargers playoff dance

They won again but not that much
They lost their games to Oakland
Buffalo, Kansas City and Seattle
All of them by a field goal in the 4th

At least they never went 1 and 15
or even 5 and eleven
Like they did when Riley coached
Because he was too soft

The season started out 6 and 1
But finished off 2 and 7
So I'll have to wait till 2003 so I can see
The San Diego Chargers play again
