Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

The video: Alanis Morissette in a sequence of scenes from the TV show, e.g., with Gilligan and the Skipper on the bridge of the SS Minnow as the weather starts getting rough; and filming Hamlet: The Musical. Of course, she wears nothing but a digital blur - and a sailor hat.
How 'bout sharing one more coconut cream pie?
How 'bout skinny-dipping down by the shore?
How 'bout spending more time repairing the Minnow?
How 'bout taking less stuff on a three-hour tour?

Thank you Gilligan
Thank you Skipper
Thank you Thur-STON-'N'LO-VEY-HOWELL
Thank you Profes-sor
Thank you Mary Ann

How come everyone's clothing and makeup stay perfect?
How come nobody ever picks up a tan?
How come Gilligan sleeps in a hut with the Skipper?
How come nobody hits on Mary Ann?

Thank you Cosmonauts
Thank you Jungle Boy
Thank you Wrong-Way
Thank you Evil Twins

So this tale's of our castaways
Here for 98 shows - what a long long time
They're stranded in these roles for life
Now THAT is an uphill climb

How come Dusty's Trail only ran for one season?
How come there aren't conventions like Star Trek?
How 'bout finally making a Gilligan movie?
How 'bout having Orson or Dawn Wells direct?

Thank you Gilligan
Thank you Skipper
Thank you Gin-GER'N'-PRO-FES-SOR
Thank you Mary Ann
Thank you Howells

Wild Man - August 01, 2003 - Report this comment your the bomb! Liked how you inclued the episodes. Yeah, figure that ~ the irony! the Island was constantly visited , but some how the Cataways could never get off the Island. The show was campy as hell, and raised a few eyebrows in the 60's. Now, 35 years later my kids know every single episode. Classic, man classic!

Excellent song, time to watch TVLand - August 04, 2003 - Report this comment
Thanks, Jon & Pat & Sync & Leb & Jeff. Wild: You're right - the castaways (and therefore the viewers) were stuck in dystopia. (There! I got to use my new word!) Billy: I'm not talking about cheap made-for-TV crap. I'm talking about big-budget Hollywood crap. I mean, who wouldn't pay to see something like "Gilligan's Island: Full Throttle"?

nice. very nice. i love how instead of just making fun of the island situation and the same old things (all the clothes, etc..) like so many other people actually know your stuff. including specific episodes and visitors made it all the better. and yes....i've often wondered why there aren't conventions like star trek. we so deserve them. lol - August 19, 2003 - Report this comment
Thanks, Julie. I'm all for a Gilligan convention, as long as it's on a desert isle and I get to play Thurston, the guy with all the clothes - and all the brandy. I figure he and Lovey were swingers back on the mainland, and that the island seriously cramped their "lifestyle." Just a theory.
