| Original Song Title: | "Africa" |
| Original Performer: | Toto |
| Parody Song Title: | "Spartacus" |
| Parody Written by: | Johnny D |
He hears the drums echoing tonight
And he shares stealthy whispers of his plot for liberation
He is planning his slavery-fight
(The) Moon-lit swords reflect the wars that guide him towards salvation
I stopped that bold man along the way
Hoping to find some strong and angry words of ancient bravery
He turned to me as if to say,
"Freedom, boy - it's waiting there for you!"
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you!
There's nothing that a hundred men of war could ever do!
Carry the flame, fight with Spartacus!
Gonna liberate ourselves and live free once again!
The freed slaves cry out in the fight
As they grow restless longing for the justice of their liberty
I know that I must do what's right
So while killing a slave-lord I cry to Olympus for love and Zeus's pity
I fight to free what's deep inside - fighting for this thing they call freedom!
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you!
There's nothing that a hundred men of war could ever do!
Carry the flame, fight with Spartacus!
Gonna liberate ourselves and live free once again!
(instrumental break)

You like movies about gladiators, Johnny?
I don't but I really liked this parody 555
A good start! It takes some paying attention to history to get this far (or maybe just watching the movie, attentively) but in my eyes putting history into "parody" song is not onlly a tribute to the heroes of the event but a means for remembering the past. Your song besides memorializing Spartacus reveals your love of history and appreciation of freedom. Your parody is like the first of a multi-part song. This first part is teriffic! I really hear a slave singing it and it has great momentum. The middle (the war) and the ending (martyrdom) I think your talent is more than ready to take them on for parts 2 and 3. Thanks for memorializing this amazing man and his times.
So you have a serious side too. Great!
Very well done..Kirk would love it! .Five thumbs up..
