Song Parodies -> Get Those Loan Adverts Off My TV
| Original Song Title: | "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" |
| Original Performer: | Tears For Fears |
| Parody Song Title: | "Get Those Loan Adverts Off My TV" |
| Parody Written by: | Lucy Branston's Great-Granddaughter |
This parody is inspired by the fact that every other advert on TV seems to either encourage you to borrow money one way or the other. So here's my response . . .
I don't want a loan
Not even to buy
New widescreen TV
Or to decorate my house or
Book holidays
I'd rather make my own money
Get those loan adverts off my TV
Commercials insane
Beware of small print
Why on earth do they
Dress up now as scary creatures?
How do costumes yet persuade us?
Get those loan adverts off my TV
Painting rooms or a new car isn't
My idea of a honest reason now
Yet the loan sharks cannot let go
How can they think that we would
Get loans for home improvement?
Get those loan adverts off my TV
Say that they give quick decisions
Self-employment's no big problem
Get these loan adverts off my TV
We say, "Don't really really really need it"
Mad adverts - don't believe them
Get these loan adverts off my TV
It's not freedom, it's not pleasure
Repayments will last forever
Get these loan adverts off my TV
Not even to buy
New widescreen TV
Or to decorate my house or
Book holidays
I'd rather make my own money
Get those loan adverts off my TV
Commercials insane
Beware of small print
Why on earth do they
Dress up now as scary creatures?
How do costumes yet persuade us?
Get those loan adverts off my TV
Painting rooms or a new car isn't
My idea of a honest reason now
Yet the loan sharks cannot let go
How can they think that we would
Get loans for home improvement?
Get those loan adverts off my TV
Say that they give quick decisions
Self-employment's no big problem
Get these loan adverts off my TV
We say, "Don't really really really need it"
Mad adverts - don't believe them
Get these loan adverts off my TV
It's not freedom, it's not pleasure
Repayments will last forever
Get these loan adverts off my TV

Excellent pacing and good parody overall. I'm immune to these loan adverts. I hope you are, too.
I hear ya loud and clear about the annoying advertisements. Good work. ;)
Me too, 555.
Good Idea...check. Good syllabic pacing...check. Rhyming... sorry, it's a bit weak. If I could I'd give you back one pacing point because it looked like there were no rhymes at all at first, and I know the original song isn't like that.
