| Original Performer: | Soul Asylum |
| Parody Song Title: | "Runaway Brain" |
| Parody Written by: | Jan Unwin |
Call you up in the middle of the night
No one's home but I've left on the light
What's that smell? It's my brain cells burning
It does seem my mind has lost what it's been learning
So confused that I couldn't find my bed
So many synapses misfirin' in my head
I promised myself I'd try to remember
But I don't know if it's June or September
Dementia has got me now,
I've lost my mind, it's gone somehow
This time I'll let them just take me away
Runaway brain, never coming back
I may as well be an amnesiac
Seems like I am forgetting my share
My mind is neither here nor there
Can you help me remember how to smile?
Make it seem like I'm not so infantile
How on earth do I get around unaided?
My memory seems so faded
I can go where no one else can go
But I get lost, end up in Idaho
Don't know enough to come out of the rain
With a thick-headed runaway brain
And everything seems cut and dried,
Day and earth, night and sky,
Somehow I just can't achieve it
Runaway brain, never coming back
I may as well be an amnesiac
Seems like I am forgetting my share
My mind is neither here nor there
Got a thick-headed runaway brain
Like a madman laughing at the rain
A little out of touch, a little insane
It's just easier than dealing with the pain
Runaway brain, never coming back
Runaway brain, just can't stay on track
Runaway brain, no flicker in my flame
It's run away and will never been reclaimed
No one's home but I've left on the light
What's that smell? It's my brain cells burning
It does seem my mind has lost what it's been learning
So confused that I couldn't find my bed
So many synapses misfirin' in my head
I promised myself I'd try to remember
But I don't know if it's June or September
Dementia has got me now,
I've lost my mind, it's gone somehow
This time I'll let them just take me away
Runaway brain, never coming back

Seems like I am forgetting my share
My mind is neither here nor there
Can you help me remember how to smile?
Make it seem like I'm not so infantile
How on earth do I get around unaided?
My memory seems so faded

Gret work Jan, you've taken my theme song and made it even more relevant to me!
Oh no I screwed up! I meant 90s oh well..
I love this song... but I can't remember why!
This parody RULES... I actually got a midi version of the instrumental(couldn't find an MP3 version) and recorded this one! I made one change... I changed "Somehow I just can't acheive it" to "Somehow I just can't reach it", don't ask me why!
