The Lyrics

On Thursday, I noticed my bus driver in the afternoon looked a lot like Phil Collins, only older. So, I came up with this parody.
Thought I saw Phil Collins drive my bus today, oh Lord
I've been riding on the school bus all my life, oh Lord
Can you see Phil Collins on my bus today?
Oh Lord, oh Lord

I took the school bus in the aft'noon, driver was in a band
Looked like the singer from Genesis, but you don't know just how confused I am
Well I was there and I saw what he did, I saw he took me home from school
"Tonight Tonight" was a hit, by his band Genesis
The resemblence was just right

Thought I saw Phil Collins drive my bus today, oh Lord
I've been riding on the school bus all my life, oh Lord
Can you see Phil Collins on my bus today?
Oh Lord, oh Lord

Well I remember, I remember, don't worry, how could I ever forget
It's the first time the driver looked like a celebrity
I don't know the reason why you looked like Collins, oh no it's a mystery
Because the answer don't show, Phil Collins's song goes
He looked like Phil Collins to me

Thought I saw Phil Collins drive my bus today, oh Lord
I've been riding on the school bus all my life, oh Lord
Can you see Phil Collins on my bus today? Oh, Lord
Thought I saw Phil Collins drive my bus today, oh Lord
I've been riding on the school bus all my life, oh Lord
Can you see Phil Collins on my bus today?
Oh Lord, oh Lord

I thought I saw him on my bus today! Oh Lord! Oh Lord!
I've been riding on the school bus all my life! Oh Lord! Oh Lord!
I've been riding on the school bus all my life! Oh Lord! Oh Lord!
(repeat indefinitely...)

You could have done a lot more satire on Collins' career with this concept--and the pace is all off.

I liked your topic and choice of song. Try writing up more great ideas like this.

I second both comments. It was a great idea for a song, with potential, and if I were writing the song, I would have focused more on satiring Phil Collins' career, beyond the fact that they look alike.

I agree with Diva - great unusual subject matter!

Your parody nearly split my sides when I was singing it! It's sooooooo hilarious! Now I can't even stop laughing!! I can't believe you actually saw a Phil Collins look-a-like driver! Who knows? Maybe you have actually met Phil Collins without knowing about it (probably using a different identity). It could be possible! I thought I'm the only one seeing look-a-likes of Phil Collins everywhere! On a scale from 1 to 5 I give it a 555!!! LOL!!!!

*Sigh* One would think that someone as intelligent as Phil Collins could have gotten a better "day job" than driving some old bus!
