The Lyrics

This parody is based on a Hagar the Horrible comic. I'd put a link to it, but I can't find it anywhere. Thumbs up if you recognise which lyrics are lifted from it, though. Anyway, dude wants to set out on adventure, but something is stopping him. Something...stupid. Enjoy!
Here I go to make my fame
Add "explorer" to my name
Yes, destiny calls, I must go
To search the world, both high and low
Off to find the holy grail
Golden fleece, the great white whale
These things and more I plan to do
Soon as I find my other shoe

Once I find my other shoe
Ancient legends, I will prove
Unthinkable, to search the land
With one bare foot, it's simply mad
There's mysteries to comprehend
Like who in the hell built Stonehenge?
Just one more thing I plan to do
Soon as I find my other shoe

Fountain of youth, I'll find that spot
Elephant's graveyard, near forgot
Maltese falcon and, oh yes
I'll find the monster of Loch Ness
There's lost worlds, lost chords and I think
If I have time - the missing link
And still more things I'm gonna do
Soon as I find my other shoe

Lost Atlantis, I'll recover
King Tut's treasure, I'll discover
The gifts of gods Perseus donned
Was Heracles fiction or not?
For thrills, knowledge and for fun
Find Area 51
Reams of things I plan to do
Soon as I find my other shoe
Just once I find my other shoe

Once I find my other shoe

Seems that my first quest today
Is "find shoe that's gone astray", weird
Under my bed? In a hole?
Duct-taped to a telephone pole?
I scratch my head and wonder where
My damn shoe's gone, oh wait, it's there!
Now my quests can start for good
The silly thing was on my foot

If anyone knows of an online archive of Dik Browne Hagar comics (opposed to the ones done by his son Chris after he died, which were all I could find), please let me know ;)

I liked this one a lot! Did you stick to the German version of the song or the American one?

You couldn't tell by the lyrics, moron?

I have this same problem with my eyeglasses. I go to look for them and find them on my forehead. Lots of things I'd like to do, but other things get in the way.

Brilliant idea for a title sub/storyline - I recognized one or two of the references, but not many: it's a long time since I saw any Hagar cartoons :-)

I remember that cartoon well even if it was over 30 years ago. I might even have a copy packed away in some ancient place. You did a good job with it!

I have frequently searched the internet over the years for this comic. I can't find it either.
